AnativeAmericanwriter.ShewasbroughtupbyhergrandmotheronanIndianreservation(保留地).Sheattendedseveraluniversitiesinthe1960s.Manyofherstoriesarebasedonherownexperiences.“CryingWind”isactuallyherbirthnameandshewritesunderthepennameLindaStafford.Allherbookscarryamessageofhopeandexpresstheoptimisticthemeofnevergivingup.

Oklahomaiscomprisedof77countieswithalandareaof68,667squaremiles(50.3peoplepersquaremile).Accordingto2000U.S.censusdata,Oklahoma’spopulationis3,450,654.Ofthose,76.2percentarewhite,7.9percentAmericanIndian,7.6percentAfricanAmerican,5.2percentHispanics,and1.4percentAsian.ThepresentdayOklahomaStateFlagadoptedbytheStateLegislaturein1925,isOklahoma’s14thflag.

The1stpeopletoliveNorthAmericaweretheAmericanIndians,orNativeAmericans.Modernscientistsbelievethatthe1stNativeAmericanscamefromAsia15.000or30.000yearsagoacrosstheBeringStraitfromSiberiatoAlaska.Theydidnotliveinoneplace,butinsteadwerealwaysonthemoveastheylookedforfood.TheseearlynativesgraduallyspreadoutallovertheNorthAmericancontinent(nowCanada,theU.S.andMexico).

语气极强,有“惊恐”的含义

Surprise语气较上述词弱,只表示“出乎意外的惊异”,出乎意外的事发生在没有心理准备的人身上,由此产生的冷不防的效果。
