The start of a new school year brings us many things — new friends, wonderful teachers and lots of bugs. Many diseases can be found in schools. The most common ones are strep throat, colds, flu and chickenpox (水痘).
How do you stay away from the illnesses at school?
It’s easy. Enough sleep, regular hand washing, and eating breakfast every day will help protect us from many illnesses. Here’s why:
Experts say children and teenagers need at least nine hours of sleep a night to keep healthy.
Nowthe study shows that we are not getting a good night’s sleep because TVs and computers
are in bedrooms. We should go to bed earlier a few weeks before school begins.
Hand washing is also important. One of the most common ways people catch a cold is by
rubbing (揉) their nose or eyes after their hands have been contaminated (污染) with the cold virus (病毒). For that reason, the best way to prevent colds and flu is to
wash hands before we eat and after we use the bathroom.
