Christiansen’scompanycontinuedtomakewoodentoysuntil1942whenfirestruck—theentireLegofactoryburnedtotheground.Unwillingtogivein,thefactorywasrebuiltandtheproductionlinerestartedsoonafter.By1954,Christiansen’sson,Godtfred,hadbecomethejuniormanagingdirectoroftheLegoGroup.Itwasduringhisconversationwithanoverseasbuyerthathewasstruckbytheideaofatoysystem.
