The novel reflects the culture between the late 18th century and the early 19th century. At that time, in England, the unmarried woman was respectable, for they could earn money and they wer

6、e independent. But the married women were not. Men tried their best to prevent women from going out working. In their opinion, the responsibility of a woman was devoting herself to her husband, her children, her parents and the whole family and making her family comfortable.Furthermore,women should

7、have self-discipline. They should stay at home and dont show their emotion directly. Even when they were in love, they should feel worried but excited. In a word ,womens actions and manners were set a limit. So it was of vital importance for them to have a good marriage because marriage was the only

Lydia is only pursuit of handsome and finally she elopes with Wickham. Jane ,the oldest girl , is attractive and tempts Bingley.they fall in love with each other . Mr

13、Darcy loves Elizabeth deeply, but his pride and the lie from Wickham,a bad person, lead to Elizabeths misunderstanding and prejudice. But Barcy helps Lydia with the problems of elopement . After the truth turns up , Darcy and Elizabeth come over the trapple of pride and prejudice and they are marrie

Chapter II The analysis of the four marriages2.1 The realistic marriage-the marriage of Mr Collins and Charotte Lucas Charlitte Lucas , the eldest daughter of Sir William an Lady Lucas ,was twenty-seven. She was lack of beauty . She did not think highly of men or of marriage . She thought

15、 that marriage might not always bring happiness, and it was the only honorable way in which a well-educate woman either little income could provide a lime for herself .So she felt she was lucky to have found a husband . What like Elizabeth described when she visited her, “Charlotte really appeared t

16、o be happy, when Wr Collins could be forgotten . The house seemed very pleasant and comfortable.” Charlottes parents were delighted to agree to the marriage , and lady Lucas began to work out , with mote interest than she had ever felt before , how many more years Mr Bennet was likely to live .The w

17、hole family were excited not for Charlottes happiness but for her marriage.On the other hand, MrCollins stated his reasons for marrying as followed , “First, it is right for a priest to marry , as an example to other people. Secondly, Im sure marriage will add greatly to my happiness, and thirdly, w

18、hich perhaps I should have mentioned earlier, my generous patron has advised me to marry. Find an active, useful sort of person and a woman who can make a small income go a long way.” According to these reasons, Mr Collins was not very disappointed when Elizabeth refused his proposal. On the contrar

19、y , he thought “it is the custom either elegant ladies in society to refuse a gentleman the first time.” He only needed a wife not a woman he loved .So under the encouragement of Charlotte, he threw himself at her feet.From this marriage, we can see that Mr Cfollins needs a woman who can take care o

20、f him and the house , while Charlotte needs a husband and a comfortable house . This kind of marriage is very common. Property and status play a very important role in the marriage.2.2 The Absurd Marriage The Marriage of Lydia Bennet and WickhamLydia Bennet was the youngest girl . She was not as gen

21、tle and beautiful as Jane or as sensible and velvet as Elizabeth . Her mind was more vacant than her sisters. If no better entertainment was available , a walk to Meryton always provided some amusement, as well as interesting local news from her aunt. What she could do was to dance and to express he

22、 admiration for the officials.As to Wickham , he was a handsome and gentleman-like young man. His father worked for Darcys father for many years. Darcys father paid for him to go to school and university, but he was infected by bad habits and lack of morals. He had ever flattered Darcys sister , fif

23、teen-year-old, so much that she believed she was in love , and agreed to elope with him. That is because she had thirty thousand pound fortune. Luckily, it was unsuccessful.Lydia was in pursuit of vanity and enjoyment. She liked Wickhams appearance. While Wickham agrees to marry Lydia because Darcy

24、paid him several thousand pounds to pay for past debts and future expense .At the same time,Mr Bennet was asked to pay Lydia one hundred pounds a year,as well as arranging for her to inherit equal share of the five thousand pounds which the Bennet girls could inherit after their parents death .At th

25、e end of novel, Lydia and Wickham were always from one place to another in search of cheap rooms, and always spending more than they should. His affection for her soon became indifferent, while hers for him lasted a little longer .Elizabeth and Jane had sent them regular gifts of money to pay their

26、bills. Their marriage was dependent in the lust without love. Not like Charlotte ,Lydia had no practical purpose to marry Wichham,and she also could get nothing except the hard time to borrow money.2.3 The happy marriage -the marriage of Jane Bennet and Bingely Janes marriage was like a zigzagging r

27、oad. At first ,Janes modest and caution became the barriers to her marriage. On the first dancing party,Bingley expressed his admiration for Jane and Jane also like him .Nevertheless, Jane behaved so cheerfully and normally. Charlotte had ever said, If she doesnt show her feelings at all ,even to th

28、e man she lives, she may lose the opportunity of catching him. As a result, Darcy had a sense of misunderstanding. He was careful to observe Jane closely, and as her manners and appearance were as pleasant and cheerful as ever. He convinced that she didnt indifference to him and not to return Hertgo

29、rdshire. At that time ,Jane nearly lost her happiness. However, Janes kindness wondered Mr Darcys anxious advice and the mutual affection between Jane and Bingely wiped off Charlotte Bingelys lies and plans. When she heard from Caroline and knew that Bingely would marry Miss Darcy ,she was deeply up

30、set but she bravely tried to control her feelings, she said to Elizabeth ,Dont worry .I shall be able to forget him in a while ,I have nothing complain of, as he made no promise to me ,I just thought he cared for me ,but I was wrong. Luckily, no one is hurt except myself.” She was so good , and she

31、always thought the best of everybody. Although Caroline made every effort to stop Bingely from returning Herefordshire, he still came back, and loved Jane as usual. Then he almost spent a long time at Janes home everyday. A few days later, they were in engagement. Just like Jane herself said ,We can
