14、 of works6.1.1 Sequence of precast reinforced concrete pipe culvert6.1.2 Sequence of precast reinforced pipe culvert installation 6.2 Detailed method of precast concrete pipe culvert 6.2.1 The preparation of precastPrior to precast, the worker shall clean up the area that has being used to precast t

15、he concrete pipe culvert. Water shall be added as required to avoid moisture loss. And we need fabricate the column cages with 6 cold-rolled ribbed mild steel bars as per the design. For pipe culvert under 600mm or between 600mm-1000mm, column cages shall be fabricated with single layer of steel bar

16、 mesh, and double layer steel bar mesh shall be engaged and well fixed for pipe culvert over 1000mm. Before the cage is putted in the formwork, we should make sure that the formwork has been cleaned and the formwork has been covered by release agent. Then we put the spacer block in the cage, and mak

17、e sure that the steel bar has enough thickness protective layers.6.2.2 Precast pipe culvertAfter we putted the cage in the formwork, used gantry crane made them in the position. And then add harsh concrete to the steel formwork. As the machine revolves, harsh concrete is continuously added until the

18、 walls of the tube reach the required thickness. The walls of the tube are to be fully compacted before the speed of the machine is gradually transferred to 1200 revolutions p/min. The machine shall be at high revolution for 5mins -7mins until the wall of the tube is in a compacted state. Once the p

19、ipe culvert is completed, it will be hung into a steam pool.6.2.3 CuringBefore the removal of the formwork,the pipe culvert shall be in a steam curing process for four hours. 6.2.4 TestFinished all the precast works we need do some test to check the quality of the culvert, these tests will be carrie

20、d out according with the AS/NZS 4058:2007 or as directed by the engineer. 6.3 Detailed method of pipe culvert installation6.3.1 Setting outThe site shall be surveyed to set the limits of excavation and culvert centre line as per the drawings. The temporary bench mark shall be set up to control the e

21、levation of pipe culvert.6.3.2 DrainageAfter the field investigation, part of culverts shall be drained off water to reduce the influence of water flowing through the constructed pipe culvert.6.3.3 ExcavationThe excavation of the foundation for pipe culverts shall be done according to the limits of

22、the setting out. When Mechanical excavation to the design elevation above 10 20 cm ,artificial excavation shall be carried out to avoid over excavation .The width of the foundation shall be just sufficient to permit satisfactory jointing of the pipe and the minimum width of the trench to be construc

23、ted for a pipe culvert shall not be less than the external pipe diameter plus 600mm. During the process of excavation, the survey shall use levels to control the elevation of the pipe culvert. If construction is launched during the rainy season, one or more sumps shall be dug within the foundation p

24、it, using water pump to drain water out from the scope of the foundation pit.Dig to design elevation, Basal bearing capacity shall be carried out. If basal bearing capacity cannot meet the design demand, less than 150kpa, quote supervision engineer and dispose as directive by the engineer.6.3.4 Base

25、 trimming75mm thick of sand shall be laid at the bottom of the foundation before the laying of the culvert. And a trench needs to be dug manually in the foundation bed to lay a culvert. The construction of the trench shall be constructed according to the length and width of the culvert. 6.3.5 Laying

26、 of pipe culvertThe laying of the pipes shall begin at the outlet end of the barrel with the socket ends upstream and spigot ends downstream. The ends of each length of pipe shall be carefully butted together to provide a continuously straight barrel.Where there is more than one pipe that forms the

27、culvert, the pipes shall be spaced as per the drawings. 6.3.6 Pipe jointingWhen jointing, the trench shall be dry and the joints shall be cleaned and wetted before sealing with mortar. The mortar shall be kept damp until the Engineer approves backfilling to proceed. Internal joints of pipes more tha

28、n l metre in diameter shall not be mortared until after backfilling is complete. Where there is less than 1 meter of pipe, the joint shall be sealed with mortar before backfilling is completed. All excess mortar shall be removed from inside the pipe.6.3.7 Headwalls and wing wallsThe excavation of th

29、e headwalls or wind walls shall be set out as per the drawing. The foundation shall be excavated and or manually dug followed by concrete placement. The concrete placement is carried out upon the completion of excavation to the bottom of the foundation according to the design elevation.The concrete

30、shall be done in layered casting due the height of the headwall and wind wall. If the formwork is above 2m, scaffolding shall be installed on both sides of the foundation to ensure the safety of the construction. 6.3.8 BackfillingThe backfilling of the base top and both side walls of the culvert tre

31、nch shall be backfilled with sand, with layers laid symmetrically according to the design and specification requirements. Each layer shall not exceed 150mm with the compaction degree of the embankment on the platform not less than 90%.The backfilling material shall be thoroughly rammed and tamped. The sub-grade top shall be backfill
