2、stion a long time, when i was young i didnt think i would be a teacher some day, but if u are Chinese, u will understand me better, my dad is a teacher, so some advantages for me to be a teacher, in my family, my two brothers and one sister were all teachers at first, just because my dad is a teache

3、r, who has more relationship outside, we can easily become a teacher after graduation, also the local education organization would arrange for teachers children preferentially, but some years later, my sister transferred to work for government, and my young brother becomes a free lance, he prefers t

4、o work for himself, But for me, as a woman, teaching is not bad, esp in china, we have a long winter and summer holiday, and salary is not too bad, so after i graduated from college, i became an English teacher in a high school, three years later, i wanna further my study, so i took the exam and pas

5、sed it, i came to Wuhan from a small town, a capital city of Hubei province, a big city in the center of China, after two years study, i got my BD in English teaching, also i found a job in a vocational school, i taught there about 10 years, then my school was integrated with some other schools, so

6、i began to teach in a college, at the same time I got a MD in Huazhong Normal University in Wuhan, as a teacher i know i should uplift myself all the time, broaden my knowledge, after so many years in teaching, i realize how important the teaching is, esp my short-term purpose is that i wanna apply

7、my knowledge to practice, help my students to get more knowledge, to ignite my students interest in English, to encourage them to love English, then my long-term purpose is that they can have more chance outside, esp when they travel aboard, they can manage in English by themselves, meanwhile put my

8、 teaching philosophy into my students mind, only by studying, they can change their fate and change their lives!So now i like my job as an English teacher very much, and Im proud of being a teacher!My teaching styleAmong all the teaching methods, I prefer the audio-lingual method and communication m

9、ethod, the reason is as follows: I am a teacher for college students now, most of time I teach students from Arts and Media Depart., in China most of them focus their attentionon their majors since they decide to learn arts as their majors when they are still high school students, so they spend lots

10、 of time practicing painting or sth else related to their majors, another reason their marks in English arent required too much, some university just 60 out of 150, of course some university need more, anyway, i say this just tell a fact: most of students from this department are so poor in English.

11、I prefer audio-lingual method in my class, some reasons are: Because my students are very poor in English, I choose some simple materials, mainly in dialogues and short passages, I put more attention on practice, so students can master new words, sentence patterns, phrases and expressions by practic

12、ing them over and over again, and also students can know grammar very well by inducing after they remember sentences, they know the new words by context.In class I try to use all English, not my native language, pay close attention to students pronunciation, , encourage students to practice more, if

13、 do well, i always praise them, encourage them, urge them to do better! Meanwhile I also adopt communication method in class, i focus on students communication, not on grammar or new words, when I arrange my class, i focus on communication ability, not on grammar structure, meanwhile, everything in

14、class mainly focuses on communication, students can communication with their classmates, they can express themselves in English in class now, some day they can communicate when using it outside classroom.If only use audio-lingual method, too much practice students will feel too boring, no motivation

15、, meanwhile, if only use communication method, students will speak too much broken English, based on our country, students have little chance to go aboard now, in order to arose students interest in English, I mix these two methods together, the only purpose is to make my students learn more, practi

17、tter, personally I think any language teacher when teaching, they mix these techniques together.When I have a class, I have 90 minutes together with 10-minute break, so I always teach about 45 minutes, then students have 45 minutes left for practice dialogue, do exercises in the books or preview pas

18、sage, of course I mix time together, I teach some time, then students practice, then I teach again, then students do some exercises, almost 50/50 rules, this class is for college English in China, not for professional English, if for professional English, i always teach more time.On a daily basis, I

19、 always encourage my students to open their mouth, some of my students dont like learning English, so first i should arouse their interest, I talked about my travel experience abroad, I told them the importance of English when travel abroad, then encourage my students to learn English little by litt

20、le, just keep on learning day by day, any language need practice, practice makes perfect!In class, I use warm language, such as “well done, you did good job, bravo, Let us give him/her applause” etc. meanwhile I pay more attention to my teacher talk, such as repetition, reduced grammatical forms, si

21、mplified vocabulary, signpost expressions, common cultural, elaboration, and clarification, of course, these teacher talk I learn from this wonderful course, I will apply it to my teaching. About the language learning strategies, every time before the new semester begins, I use 45 minutes (in china,

22、 one class has 45 minutes, then have a 10-minute break, then another 45 minutes, two 45-minute for one subject in university or college in china) to teach how to learn English: 1. Sentence is everything, sentence is fortune, that means, when we communicate, we use sentence, so just ask students to f

23、ocus on remember sentences by sentences, not focus on remember new words.2. Spoken English outbreaks everything, that means if you speak more, your words, your listening, your grammar and your exam will be no problem.3. One-year-odd time can breakthrough English, that means if you keep on practice E

24、nglish with odd hours, you can master English just one-year later, because in china, students learn English from Primary school, middle school, high school, then in college or university, so long time, but still a lot of problems exist, even today.In my teaching, I always use some background informa

25、tion related to the passage we will learn in class as warm-up when teaching passages, I ask some questions to begin dialogues, when teaching listening, I guide students to read the questions first, if some new words, I will explain to them, when practice dialogue, I will act out with one student, th

26、en students will know how to practice after I give them some tasks to act out. About the assessment activities, different teaching contents different assessment activities, for example, about dialogues learning, students should finish a dialogue according to task before class finishes, about passage

27、 learning, students should finish some phrases-filling exercises and some translation exercises after finishing the passage learning, about listening, always do some fill-in blank exercises or multiple choices, anyway in every class, ensure my students learn sth in my class and progress day by day n
