My topic is table manners at a dinner party just taken from unit 6 in SEFCS1A. Its made up of four parts.Part 1 my u

2、nderstanding of this lesson1. My understanding of the teaching material:This is a reading passage. It plays a very important part in this unit. By studying of this lesson, the Ss can improve their reading ability; learn more about table manners at a dinner party, such as, how to use knives and forks

3、, when to drink a toast and how to behave at the table. At the same time, the Ss should do some listening, reading, and speaking exercises, too.2. Teaching aims:Knowledge aims: Let the Ss know something about the manners at a formal western dinner.Make the Ss know the difference between Chinese tabl

4、e manners and Western table manner.Ability aim: Train the Ss reading ability, such as fast reading skill, intensive reading skill. Cultivate students English expression abilityMoral aim: Via studying this lesson, the Ss should be urbane in the formal dinner.3. Key and difficult points:The key point

5、is make the Ss master the manners given in the text.And the difficult point is discussing the manners not mentioned in the text.4. Something about the Ss:The Ss are lack of vocabulary.They dont often use English to express themselves and communicate with others.They are not active in the class becau

6、se they are afraid of making mistakes.Part 2 my teaching theories, methods and aids:1. Before dealing with this lesson, Ill do my best to carry out the following theories: make the Ss the real masters in class while the teacher himself acts as a director; combine the language structures with the lan

In this text, the design is not easy to write. I write the topic sentences(学生总结，写在中间) and important and di

9、fficult phrases（短语写在左边） and the language structures（句子结构写在右边） on the blackboard in order to tell the Ss that this is of the importance in this class. The discussion is of the difficulty.Part 4 teaching stepsI have designed the following steps to train their ability of listening, speaking, reading an

10、d writing, especially reading ability.The entire steps are greetings, revision, lead-in and preparation for reading, fast reading, listening, intensive reading, preparation for details of the text, consolidation, discussion, homework.Now step 1 greetingsGreeting the whole class as usualStep 2 revisi

11、onCheck the homework. Through this part we can consolidate what they studied yesterday; communicate with others about their survey results and prepare for the new lesson.Step 3 lead-in and preparation for readingGive some situations to the Ss and let them work in groups to discuss the rules for bein

12、g polite in Chinese culture. Situation 1: receiving a birthday present. Situation 2: at a dinner party.And then teach the new words and structures to the Ss to help them understand the passage better.Through this part I want to rouse the Ss interest of study.Step 4 fast readingLet the Ss read the pa

And then ask some questions about the main idea of each paragraph.What will u use at a formal western dinner?What will the people do, before they start eating?Whats the favorite food to westerners? In this part, the Ss read the text individually. And the question-and-an

The purpose is to train the Ss ability of understanding and using language.Step 8 consolidation1. Let the Ss find out the topic sentences.Via this step, I

Whats more, I want to let them have the ability of introducing and analyzing expression. At the same time, I will write down the topic sentences on the blackboard found by the Ss. So they c
