It is regarded as one of the causes of the Civil War, it also called on women to stand up to defend their rights.1.1 Harriet Beecher Stowe and Her WorkHarriet Beecher Stowe was one of the most influential American writers in the nineteenth century. She believed in religion and cared the so

7、cial and moral issues. She lived in the free state of Cincinnati, it was far away from the slave states, what one sees and hears slaves miserable life in slavery. She hated cruel torture and evil of slavery. She supported slaves heroic struggle. People and events she had experienced made her write t
