In 1979, he was given the post of Lucasian Professor of Mathematics, which he continues to hold to this day. He is toda

20、y a fellow of the Royal Society and a member of the US national Academy of Sciences.Hawkings great interest has been to understand the basic laws that our universe follows. One of his most well-known achievements was to demonstrate, along with Roger Penrose, that Einsteins theory of general relativi
