AbstractThe story of the Little Red Riding Hood is one of the best loved fairy tales of all time. It has many different versions, among which Grimms is the most famous and wid
6、ely known. What people are familiar with is the little cute, innocent girl with her little red cap, who is swallowed by the wolf and saved by the hunter. While, its original version and other versions are not widely known and its implied meanings are always ignored. This paper analyzes the Little Re
7、d Riding Hood based on three typical versions from the perspective of moral and feminism. Little Red Riding Hood was originally orally told in the French countryside and then first written down by Charles Perrault in 1697. Its a moral tale, warning girls and women that wolves may lurk in every guise
8、. Little Red Riding Hood soon spread beyond the borders of France. In 1865, Germany Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm rewrite the story: Little Red Cap. Grimm revised the story into a fairy-tale that was suitable for children. The Grimms story satisfied the requirement of bourgeois socialization and implied t
9、he rank of authority and moral lessons. The Grimms story is similar to the Perraults version at the point that both of the two versions are reflections of the rules and moral principles of a male-dominated bourgeois society. After the World War, especially second-wave feminism, abundant of feminism

Red Riding Hood in The Merseyside Fair Story collective profoundly changed the stereotyped image of the women characters in the Little Red Cap series, expressed females independence and wisdoms, and reflected the awakening of females consciousness in male-dominated society. They are defined by their plots, which follow standard basic patterns. their function is to be oral entertainment for adults as well as children, and telling
23、them well is a skilled art (Simpson and Roud 134).The term fairy tale only appeared in the 18th century, almost certainly as a translation of the French Contes des Fes, the title of a book by Madame dAulnois published in 1698 and translated into English the following year. It is universally understo
24、od, but not in fact accurate, since many of the best-loved stories have no fairies in them, though magic abounds; consequently some scholars prefer the terms Wonder Tales or Magic Tales. Originally, adults were the audience of fairy tales that may have been gruesome or include sexual references. But
25、 in the 19th and 20th centuries the fairy tale became associated with childrens literature. In the modern era, fairy tales were altered so that they could be read to children and might include a moralistic stance or warning against dangers, they began as chiefly oral stories passed from generation t
26、o generation. And in contemporary literature many authors have used the form of fairy tales for various reasons. Obviously, fairy tales have changed with time. For example, Little Red Riding Hood was originally written by Charles Perrault, as a tale with sexual image. Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm (also k
27、nown as The Brothers Grimm) wrote down Germany version: Little Red Cap to make it more acceptable for children.3.
