13、different cultures, and language is a bridge for inter-cultural communications, and idiom is the spirit of English language, we have met many problems when translating English idioms, while the new method under the Skopos theory make it clear to readers from another society culture, the translation
14、of English idioms itself is the communication between western and eastern cultural backgrounds, the purpose of this research is to look for better measures for translations of English idioms. In China, many researchers have explored this area since Skopos theory emerged in 1987, their researches inc
15、lude translation teaching, strategies of translation, culture translation, advertisements translation, and many other subjects. In recent years, many articles introduces Skopos theory combined with traditional translation theory, such as Zhou Mengzhens book “Skopos And Xin Da Ya-Comparison Of Two Tr
16、anslation Theories”(2007), the writer discussed their own features through their similarities and differences. And many essays discussed the application of Skopos theory in the field of translation teaching, for example, “The English-Chinese And Chinese-English Translation Teaching Under The Skopost
17、heorie”(2006) from the writer Tao Youlan analyzed the translation teaching and brought many suggestions. All these kinds of researches have one purpose, which is to make the translation in different conversations more convenient and close to readers and listeners. After many strategies exploring in
18、the method of translation, the Chinese Enigmatic Folk Similes method maybe a better project under the Skopos theory, the writer makes examples of this kind of method in this article, makes it appropriate for translation of English idioms. 19、of English Idioms, Skopos theory, Explore the translations strategies of English Idioms, Conclusion.The Characteristics Of English IdiomsAccording to statistics, there are more than five thousand idioms in contemporary English, of which more than four thousand is widely used in our daily life. As a
20、special group in the English language, Idioms has its own charm and characteristics.A. The integrity of the structure stability and meaningFirst of all, the formation of English idioms is different from traditional grammar habits, for example, Like cures like, diamond cut diamond. Secondly, Idioms u
21、sually cannot casually add or reduce words and change the order, either cant be in the same component replacement. Such as, to call one names, a stitch in time saves nine, in the same boat, the underlined word cant be replaced as” one names, one, ship”. Moreover, the meaning of English idioms is not
22、 a simple addition of each word, cant be translated to the target language mechanically, for example, black sheep, to show the white feather, to lose ones head, their meanings are not the way they look like, but social residue, weakness and lose ones mind.B. 23、dsIt is rich in expression in the form of English idiom, including phrases, simple sentences, and complex sentences with clause. Such as “a tall order, the Emperors the new clothes, all at sea “belong to phrases, “Has the cat got your tongue? An old dog will not learn new tricks” belong to simple se

26、ries, they are local peoples precious wealth created and accumulated over a long period of time. The majority of English idioms come from The Bible, dramatic works by Shakespeare, Aesops Fables, Ancient Greek and Roman myths and legends. For example, “separate the sheep from the goats” comes from th
27、e Bible, “pound of flesh” comes from Shakespeares work The Merchant of Venice, “to bell the cat” comes from Aesops Fables.The final destination of translation is completing the transformation between local language and target language in content and information accurately. How do translators reach t

The first step is a complete understanding of the original sentences, while associated with the language of the cultural background knowledge and greatly affects their understanding of English idioms and expressions. If translators dont understand the related cultural background knowledge,
29、 and they translate with only vocabulary and grammar knowledge, thus couldnt make perfect translation about idioms, or even make jokes. When communicating with another language in different culture, idioms could be divided into three relationships from cultural characteristics, corresponding relatio
30、nship, semi-corresponding relationship and non-corresponding relationship.1.
