However, when we take a closer look at the film, we can see that its clearly been made for a Western audience. The film centers on t

13、he funny story of Chinese-American professor Rachel Chu and her rich Singaporean boyfriend Nick Young and his family. Although the movie sheds light on Asian culture, according to The Paper, the movie is still a display of American values and world views, instead of those of Asian people. “There are

14、 a lot of people who dont relate to that of course there will be lot of fair criticism about the fact that it doesnt represent fully the entire population,” wrote Penelope Poulou of VOA News. According to The Paper, the movie still cant help showing the cultural traditions and lifestyle of the US. T

15、he romance story even finds its roots in Disney fairy tales. Chu represents Cinderella and her glass slippers, while Young could be compared to a frog prince with a golden key. Meanwhile, in the movie, the villa (豪宅) and the luxurious (奢华的) parties represent the lives seen in movies like The Great G
