、ave the nomenclature Num Lock, Caps Lock and Scroll Lock. They are activated and de-activated by receiving a two byte system command code Hex ED XX from host PC.4.2 Keyboard BufferA 16 key FIFO buffer stores the scan codes until the host is ready to receive them. Buffer overrun occurs when more than
、 16 keys are stored without being sent. An overrun code replaces the 17th key to be stored in the buffer. Additional keys pressed will cause loss of data if the host is kept busy and the keyboard is unable to send out the contents in the buffer.4.3 Typematic delay and repeat rateAll keys are typemat
、ic, except for the PAUSE key. When a key is pressed and held down, the keyboard will delay 500 msec, then send the make code. Make code of the key being held down will be sent repeatedly at the rate of 10.9 characters per second. If two or more keys are pressed and held down, only the last key press
、ed will be repeated at the repeat rate. When the last key is released, typematic operation stops, even if other keys are still held down. If a key is pressed and held down while keyboard transmission is disabled, only the first keys make code is stored in the type ahead buffer. This prevents a type
、ahead buffer overflow when the typematic operation acts. In the AT mode, the typematic delay and repeat rate can be programmable. This is done by command from host.Default Repeat Rate and Typematic Delay are :Repeat rate : 10.9 characters per secondTypematic delay :500 msec4.4 Pseudo N-Key rollover
、capability N key roll is the number of keys that may be held depressed simultaneously and have the keyboard generate the appropriate code for each pressed and released key without keyboard interruption. All combinations of Ctrl, Alt and Shift keys are not ghost keys.4.5 Free from illegal ghost keys
、Key matrix layout has been properly managed such that no ghost key occurs for any three key combination. The ghost key is defined as three key combination where a valid third key falls in the # pattern in the key matrix formed by the proceeding valid two key combination. Normally in this case, the t
、hird key will be masked without sending any code because the third key and fourth key in this # pattern are confusing the microprocessor of the keyboard. If the third key was not masked properly, the ghost keydifferent key presses having the same electrical connection in scan lines and return lines matrix will occur. Some exceptions are
