The pressure that accompanies competition as well as the fear of being emulated can incite and motivate one to study or work harder and bring his potential to the maximum extent in his

2、pursuit to success. To economy, competition force people to work and function more efficiently and effectively and thus productivity will be significantly enhanced. To technology, the increasingly fierce competition has led to the unprecedented prosperity of science and technology. In competition fo

3、r dominance, political parties may offer beneficial and appealing policies to their public. All in all, the general public receives the direct benefits of such competition. Yet baleful competition may bring selfish, feeling of pressure and loss, the deterioration of interpersonal relationships and e

4、ven more serious mental disorders that are detrimental to the society. Modern society is not only a highly competitive society, but also one that needs for cooperation to achieve success. Both competition and cooperation constitute the survival and development on individuals life and the whole socie

5、ty. On one hand, Competition and cooperation are auxiliary to each other. In contemporary society competition is no longer a matter of individual but a contest between groups. To success in a competition one must have the support from a success team. A success team needs not only cooperation but als

6、o competition among its members. On the other hand, either competition or cooperation, the goal is to improve. The ultimate purpose of competition is to win rather than to defeat. Although sometimes a win-win complexion is not likely to happen, we should not set our goal to undermining or even suppl

7、anting our rivals. Diversity and conformityDifference exists anywhere and anytime. We can never find two exactly the same sand on the beach. Different interpretations come about when people with different personalities, experience and knowledge look at exactly the same objects, facts, data, or event

8、s. The same is with similarity.Similarity brings about agreement. Sound agreement helps learning and researching. Agreements make us feel better about ourselves, help keeping relax and happy. Better mood tends to better efficiency of study. Moreover, accord is a strong power that encourages us to vo

9、yage in our fields further and to face sneer and stress from people opposite. To us, these agreements mean we could go further on the way of learning more without hesitation and fear, for we have companions and never alone.Although difference and disagreement often causes stress, contradictions and

10、debates, it is difference that forces progress. Firstly, difference promotes learning subtly. We owe almost all our knowledge to people who have views contradict our own rather than to people whose views we share than from. Individuals are narrow foci which confined with their knowledge of particula

11、r realm. During the process of rational debates and disagreements, we are forced to communicate with and learn from our antagonists. Secondly, Logical discourses lead to rethinking and revising. It is the main power that promotes the advancement of a theory. Without different voices one would be lik

12、ely to overlook the flaws of existed theory. Only by being forced to defend an idea against the doubts and contrasting views of others can one really discover the value of that idea. Thirdly, difference is the source of innovation. During the process of trying to solve the controversy, one may come

13、up with new thoughts. Many academic breakthroughs begin from skepticism of theories accepted by most people for a long time. Finally, disagreements from various angles of view tend to educe a reasonable solution when encountered with complex situations. Only thus can balance the influence of all asp

14、ects and make the best decision. It is human nature to prefer things that make us comfortable to things that disturbs us. Therefore, although relationship between things has two sides: difference and similarity, human always inclined to or try to highlight the similar aspects. In other words, people

15、 prefer to seek conformity rather than to debate for their unique ideas. Sadly, conformity almost always leads to a deadening of individual creativity and energy. When groups try to be creative, the members force each other to compromise and, as a result, creative ideas tend to be weakened and made

16、more conventional. Therefore, in order to understand the world comprehensively, one needs to be trained to overcome the human nature of conformity and discover both difference and similarities between things.Specialize or InterdisciplinaryIt cannot be denied that rapidly developing science and techn

17、ology is pervading every aspect of our lives at an unprecedented speed. Along with the requirement of top technology is the fact that discipline ceaselessly shapes its own narrower branches gradually and specifically. After a recollection of great minds, it seems to be obvious that neither would gen

18、eralist like Aristotle reappear nowadays, nor the future. Indeed, only by great efforts made in particular field with a professional knowledge can one embrace better chance to achieve success.One the other hand, any disciplines in science, humanities or social science can not be totally independent.

19、 Actually, they are constantly promoting or limiting each other. It is for not enough for researches to own knowledge merely in one field. Therefore, extensive learning is also indispensible.Actually, compared with specialists, people we really need are professionals who can focus their minds on the

20、 majors while, at the same time, have stepped into other fields more or less. Individual interest or collective interestIndividualism has never received so much regard ever before. On one hand, individualism is regarded as the symbol of respect for equality, freedom and humanity. On the other hand,

21、people become more and more aware of that individualism indeed has its function to serve for the development of individuals personalities and the independent spirit. However, the consequences of too much emphasis on individualism may give rise to selfish. There are more and more people only care abo

22、ut their own profits and neglect others feelings. Collectivism is based upon the merits that every individual should cooperate and communicate with other members, and should contribute to the progress of the entity. History has proved that in order to obtain long-term personnel benefit, under many c

23、ircumstances we have to cooperate and work for the collective interest. Besides, true happiness only comes when there are some people who share it with you. Although collectivism does not mean inhibition of diverse characters and interest of individuals, it is inevitable that some people must make t

24、emporary concessions during the process of compromise. Individualism and collectivism are impossible to consistent with each other exactly. Choice between individualism is actually to weigh the gains and losses between specialization and unification, immediate and long-term, expectation and reality.

It comes with our humanity that we are entitled the

The wall between public and private is an important one to maintain even if it means we will sometimes ignore personal traits or conduct that could well diminish our opinion of the overall person. We should maintain this wall not to protect public fi

29、gures from the judgments that might naturally flow from their conduct but because we should prize and protect the idea of privacy. However, in some cases, people are expected to expose part of their privacy. If one has the desire to be under the spotlight, he is required to show some episodes of his

30、 private life in order to catch the eyeballs of the mass, especially for those actors, singers and athletes. Governments and political leaders also choose to open part of their privacy initiatively as their information concerns with thousands peoples benefit. This measure not only improves governmen

31、ts reputation, but also is an effective way for the public to understand politic decisions and to supervise the government. Withholding information or keep ones privacy does not necessarily indicate lying or cheating as they have other approaches.
