3、效途径Abstract: Chinglish as a major mistake caused by the Chinese language, culture and thinking interference. It is a kind of deformity English which caused by China English learners think in an inherent way, as well as their mother tongue interference and influence, to apply the rules and habits whi
4、ch lead to the Chinese do not meet the English language and cultural habits. Different forms of Chinglish, greatly weakened the effect of cross-cultural communication, intercultural communication and some even affect the smooth progress. This paper analyzes the manifestation of Chinglish and causes,

Introduction1.1 The Background of ResearchIn todays global informatization and networking, English is becoming the important tool of international communication. A
6、fter Chinas entry into the WTO, as an international language, English is becoming more and more important in Chinese society. All walks of life demand for foreign language talents increasingly, the requirement of English level is more and higher for the college student in the society, not only peopl
7、e have a strong ability of reading, but also people need strong communication skills. However, the person who understand English does not represent him/she has English application ability. Over the years, under the influence of the exam-oriented education, emphasizing the books and learning grammar
8、ignored the practice ability of students to use English to communicate in China. In China, leaning English is starting from the third grade, it is more and more important in Chinese education.However, until students go to the high school, they have learned English for six years, students English lev
9、el and English application ability is still not well. It is a small number of students who can use the authentic English to listen, speak, read and write, and most of the students are using the Chinese English (Chinglish), which refers to a Chinese English vocabulary, grammar, speaking habits, it is
10、 a transitional language between Chinese and English language rather than native language.Nowadays, English has become a multinational, multicultural and multifunctional language. The wide spread of English has made itself a global language. Now some linguists say English may never be dethroned as t
11、he king of languages as it dominates the world as no other language ever has. At present it is officially reported that English,with a total population of over two billion speakers as the first language, has a special status in more than 75 countries. English has been the dominant second language or
12、 foreign language worldwide. According to David Crystals statistics (2001,p.61),in 57 countries here are 450 million people whose mother tongue is English; in 67 countries there are 350 million people taking English as the second language,while in the countries with the largest populations,especiall
13、y in China, Japan, Russia, Brazil, Indonesia, about 1,2001,500 million people speak English as second language. With the globalization, its importance in the international communication is increasing. In our country especially in universities and colleges,English is also very important for nearly al
14、l of the students. As English is not the major of most Chinese English learners .Their English learning process is quite different. Many different learners have almost the same learning experiences although they have studied English for 5-6 years even more,they cant speak or write English well nativ
15、ely. The English they often used (both in written and spoken form) is regarded as Chinglish which caused by mother tongue interference (Chinese language) as well as culture and thinking modes. It often appears in English output of non-English majors. The phenomenon of Chinglish is very normal in Chi
16、nese English learners. This thesis aims to explore the features and causes of Chinglish from linguistic and cultural point of view.1.2 Significance of the StudyLanguage is a tool of communication. Those who learn English in fact are learning a kind of communication skill. However, it is always a hea
17、dache that many Chinese English learners cant communicate well both in written and in spoken English. In order to improve this situation and raise Chinese English learners overall ability for English learning, this thesis is trying to analyze various linguistic and cultural features of Chinglish and
18、 to explore the causes for the formation of it, finally attempting to give some solutions to Chinglish. In this thesis there are a great deal of authentic language materials provided ,which are mainly selected from various sources such as Chinese English learners compositions , translation exercises
19、, books, and daily conversations from the learners. Chinglish has been studied by linguists both at home and abroad for decades. However, their emphasis on the study of Chinglish was scattering in many areas. This paper will focus on the linguistic and cultural features, causes and some solutions as
20、 well .The writer provides some possible solutions and efficient English learning strategies to lower Chinglish, to diminish negative transfer of mother tongue, and to enlarge the positive aspect of Chinese. Only in this way can the ungrammatical or unidiomatic features of Chinglish be obvious, in o
21、rder to improve Chinese English learners ability to communicate with the world more natively and smoothly.2. The Definition and Expression of Chinglish2.1 The Definition of ChinglishAlthough the study of the form and cause of Chinese style English has not been formed comprehensive and systematic, bu
22、t it does not mean that people ignore the existence of the Chinese style English. In fact, many teachers and scholars have been pay attention to this kind of language at home and abroad, and they publish the study of Chinglish phenomenon in different books or articles which talking about English tea
23、ching and learning methods, however, because of the clutter and unnatural state of instability Chinese style English ,people cannot give a clear definition of Chinglish , they have to combine with their own understanding from different angles, give it diverse and incomplete definition , such as the
24、following definition:Chinglish is a speech or writing influenced by Chinese interference .People can translate some sentences word for word and sentence for sentence more or less. Chinglish may be correct grammatically, but people does not conform to the standard usage of English when choose words o
25、r phrases as well as the expressions .Although people can understand the meaning, but people cannot accept the Chinglish. (Deng Yanchang, 1989).Chinglish is a kind of language which is deformity. It is not English nor Chinese, but it may be shaped as English with Chinese characteristics. (Joanpinkha
26、m,2003)From the definition of listed above, people can conclude that the interference of language learners mother tongue is the main cause of Chinglish. And throughout the interaction between language, culture, thought and mutual influence relations, it is not hard to see, the interference is from t

28、heir unique culture and thinking mode of Chinese.2.2 The Expression of Chinglish2.2.1 Miscellaneous wordsIn Chinese-English interpretation, the characteristic of Chinese style English is adding unnecessary words. Influenced by Chinese expressions, people use related expression to replace a verb or n
29、oun, in order to achieve the purpose of emphasis or translated word by word, our Chinese used to add an unnecessary adjectives before the noun, a redundant adverbs before verbs, extra time adverbial and unnecessary verb before the noun. In the guide of Chinglish, the author lists a large number of s
30、uch characteristics of Chinese style English phrases. .For example: the translators use actual fact, serious chaos, new innovation, financial expenditure, a great historic change and final completion to interpret the truth, serious disturbances, new innovation, spending, great historical change and
31、Chinese phrases such as finished. (B Ellis, R ,2009)but adjectives are useless in the authentic English, the noun is good enough. Accelerate the pace of reform is the Chinglish translation of accelerate the reform, In addition, in this phrase of totally abolish, authentic English adverbs totally wil
32、l delete the aggrandizement, because the verb abolish can express the meaning. The same examples are firmly ban (strictly prohibited), thoroughly eliminate (eliminate), it successfully accomplish (victory), completely smash (crushed), completely conquer (occupation) completely, extremely shameless shameless, fully support (support), strongly advocate (such as strongly approve of) (Yamuna K, Cecil, 2006). When people add the temporal adverbial of characteristics ,Chinese English was also manifested, such as in the
