thing.
Inthepopularimagination,ofcourse,guiltstillgetsabadrap.Itisdeeply
uncomfortable-it'stheemotionalequivalentofwearingajacketweightedwithstones.
Yetthisunderstandingisoutdated."Therehasbeenakindofrevivalorarethinking

forestsislockedawayintheformofsolidlumberorburnedasbiofuelinvehiclesthat
wouldotherwiserunonfossilfuels.Newresearchontransportationbiofuelsis
alreadyunderway.
Stategovernmentsarewellaccustomedtomanagingforests,buttraditionally
they'vefocusedonwildlife,watershedsandopportunitiesforrecreation.Only
