Thisnewresearchsuggestsawayofovercomingthegapbycombiningscientificdisciplinestohelpfutureresearcherscreatelifelikerobotswithabilitiessuchasdevelopingbodilycontrol,autonomyandsensingatthesametime.

ProfessorKovacsaid,“WepicturePhysicalAIrobotsbeingdevelopedinthelabbyusingunusualmaterialsandresearchmethods.Cross-disciplinarycooperationandpartnershipswillbeveryimportant.”

TheresearchersalsoadvisestrengtheningresearchactivitiesinPhysicalAIbysupportingteachersonboththeinstitutionalandcommunitylevel.Theysuggesthiringandsupportinguniversityeducatorswhosepriority(重点)willbecross-disciplinaryPhysicalAIresearch.“Creatinglifelikerobotshasbeenanimpossibletasksofar,butitcouldbemadepossiblebyincludingPhysicalAIinthehigheducationsystem,”Kovacsaid.
