Oneevening,itwasrainingandthewindwasblowinghard.Anoldcouplecametoaninnandpreparedtoputupforthenight(投宿)there.Ayoungmanreceivedthemwithopenarms(热情地),butsaid“I’msorry!
Ourguestroomshereareallfullandtheinnsnearbyareallfull,too,fortherewillbeanimportantmeetingtobeheldheretomorrow.”
Hearingtheyoungman’swords,theoldcouplefeltverydisappointed,andturnedaroundtoleave.
Justastheywereleaving,theyoungmancameuptothemandstoppedthem:
“Madamandsir,ifyoudon’tmind,youcansleepinmybedroomforanight…….”
Thenextevening,theoldcoupletookoutlotsofmoneytogiveittotheyoungman,butherefusedtotakeit.
“No!
Youneedn’tpaymeanymoney,forIonlylendmyroomtoyou.”saidtheyoungmanwithasmileonhisface.
“You’regreat,youngman!
It’sverykindofyou.Maybeoneday,I’llbuildahotelforyou!
”saidtheoldmangratefully.
Withthesewords,theoldcoupleleft.
Gazingattheirrecedingfigures,theyoungmanonlylaughedandwentonworking.
Severalyearslater,theyoungmansuddenlyreceivedaletterfromtheoldcouple,invitinghimtogotoManhattan(曼哈顿).
Theyoungmanmettheoldcoupleinfrontofaluxuryhotel(豪华饭店).
“DoyoustillrememberwhatIsaidtoyouseveralyearsago?
Look!

Theengineerswentahead.Therewasnothingelseforthemtodo,iftheyweretoremainonthefordstaff.Sixmonthspassedandnothinghappened.Anothersixmonthspassed,andstillnothinghappened.Theengineerstriedeveryconceivableplantocarryouttheorders,butthethingseemedoutofthequestion:
“impossible!
”
Attheendoftheyearfordcheckedwithhisengineers,andagaintheyinformedhimtheyhadfoundnowaytocarryouthisorders.

Theywentahead,andthen,asifbyastrokeofmagic,thesecretwasdiscovered.
