Studentsinthisyear’s"HowtoCreateThings&HaveThemMatter"classwillformgroupsaroundart,designandengineeringideasthathelpaddressbiodiversityandmanagetheincrediblejellyfishbloomsthathavebeguntoacceleratethedemiseofouroceans.Studentswilllearntogenerate,developandrealizebreakthroughideaswhilelearningbasicskillsofengineeringdesign,brainstorming,prototyping,andpublicpresentations.TheseideaswillbebrainstormedwithartistMarkDion,whose2014/2015exhibitionatLeLaboratoireParis--andthenewLaboratoireCambridge--willgivestudentsthechancetoparticipatein,andcontributeto,amajorartinstallation.TheclasswillincludeopportunitiesforajellyfishexpeditionintheBostonHarbor,aworkingtriptoCapeTown,SouthAfrica,aninnovationworkshopatLeLaboratoire,Paris,andfundingforcontinuedprojectdevelopmentfollowingthecourse.
