570)StatisticsprovidedbytheUnitedStatesDepartmentofLaborsuggestthatbyNovember2004,theunemploymentrateforblackandwhitepeopleis10.8percentand4.7percentrespectively.Butitdoesnotmeanthattheblackswhogetjobscan“laughfromnow”.Accordingtosomestatistics,blackpeople’sincomeisjust1/3ofthewhitepeople’seveniftheyaredoingthesamejob[13].That’sofcourseduetothediscriminationinthelabormarket.In2003,TheEqualEmploymentOpportunityCommissionoftheUnitedStatesreceived29,000complaintsofracialbiasintheworkplace.Onthewhole,thecoloredpeoplearegenerallypoor,withlivingconditionmuchworsethanthewhite.StatisticsshowthatthenumberofNegroeslivinginpovertyisthreetimesthatofthewhite.AccordingtoareportofTheGuardianofBritainonOct.9,2004,theaveragenetassetsofawhitefamilyis88,000USdollarsin2002,11timesofafamilyofLatinAmericanancestry,ornearly15timesofafamilyofAfricanancestry.Whenwetalkabouttheculturalfield,theaspectofeducationcannotbeneglected,especiallyfortheblackchildren.In1930,only58.5%theycouldenterschools,butin1980s,theblackchildrencouldhavethesamechancetoenterschools(GilbertandKarl1992:
92).In1965,theMiddleSchoolEducationActacceleratedthestepofeliminatingthesystemofracialsegregation.Moreandmoreblackchildrencouldenterthesameschoolasthewhitechildren(Franklin1988:
567)..Previousstudieshavesuggestedthatinresponsetooccupationalandeducationaldiscriminationbasedontherace,manyAfricanAmericanstudentshavementallywithdrawnfromtheschoolingprocess,asindicatedbylowlevelsofachievementandhighlevelsofschool
dropout.Before1954,thestatesintheSouthhadlegislationwhichindicatedthattheblackchildrenwereforbiddentoentertheschoolwherethewhitechildrenwereeducated.In1960,therewere589schoolsinNewYork,butonly95schoolswhereblackchildrenwerepermittedtoreceivetheireducation[14].Theblackchildrengrowupintheenvironmentofbeingtreatedlikeanothercreaturefromanotherplanet.修改为:

3.Culturalreason
Maybethefirstfactorweshouldtalkaboutisculture.Asweallknow,theywerebroughttoAmericainthe18thcenturyasslaves,andtheirposteritykeptonworkingonplantfarmsuntiltheCivilWarwasover.So,atfirsttheirsocialstatuswasverylow.Peopletreatedthemashorsesandcattle.Atthattime,itwasimpossibleforblacktodevelopandspreadtheirculture.Itseemedthattheydidn’thavecultureatall.
Veryfewblackpeoplewereeducated,iftherewasany,itmustbethatsomeveryopen-mindedslave-ownerstaughthisfavoritesalvescommonknowledge,whichcouldonlybeusedinthedailylife.ItwasoutofthequestionforPhilosophy,mathematicsandphysicstobetaughttotheblacks.Untiltoday,theeducationleveloftheblacksismuchlowerthanothers.Cultureisthebridgeofbringingtworacestogether,butthereisabiggapbetweenblack’scultureandwhitepeople’s.So,thetremendousgapbetweenblackpeopleandwhitepeoplecomesnaturally.修改为:

3.Politicalreason
Thenanotherfactor---politicscomes.ThelowsocialstatusdecidesthatthereisnorealfairlawforNegroes.Blackpeopleandwhitepeoplewereforbiddentositinthesameareaonthebus,togotothesameschool,togotothesamepostoffice,ortogotothesamechurch,etc.Itseemedthateveryplacewherewhitepeopleappearedwasaforbidden-place.Theright-ownerswantedtoletblackdisappearfromtheearthforever,butitwasimpossible.Everyracehasitsreasontoexistinthefutureiftheyexistedbefore,andtohavethefreeairtoliveistheirirrevocableright.Theglobebelongstoeveryone,andtheaironepullsoutofhislungsmaybeinhaledbyothers,sowecannotexistwithoutothers.修改为:
