CLEANLINESS

F6100GENERAL

F6110PURPOSEOFCLEANLINESS-DEGREEOFCLEANLINESS

Thepurposeoftherequirementsgiveninthischapteristolimittheriskofdamagecausedimpuritiesinfluidsystems:

-activationofdepositsinthereactorcore,

-adverseeffectofdepositsontheoperationofmovingparts,

-local（orgeneralized）corrosionofstainlesssteelalloys,

-reductioninheatexchangeduetotheeffectofdeposits.

Thedegreeofcleanlinessistherequiredcleanlinessofagivensurfacepriortotestingandstart-upofthefacility.Thereareseveraldegreesofcleanliness.

Verificationtestsanddifferentlevelsofcriteria,asdefinedinF6300,areassociatedwitheachdegreeofcleanliness.

F6120APPLICABILITY

TherequirementsofthischapterareapplicabletomechanicalcomponentssubjecttotheRCC-MwhichconveyorareincontactwithoneofthefluidslistedinF6220（primaryfluids,secondaryfluids,componentcoolingfluidsandeffluent）.

Forthesecomponents,themajorityoftherequirementsgiveninthischapterareapplicabletoallsurfacesincontactwithprocessfluids.

OnlytherequirementsgiveninparagraphsF6300,F6400andF6640arealsoapplicabletotheoutersurfacesofthesecomponents.

F6130TIMEOFAPPLICATION

Attheverylatest,therequireddegreeofcleanlinessshallbeachievedduringthelastphaseoffabricationinwhichtheverificationoftheapplicablecriteriaispossible,andshallbemaintaineduptoinitialfillingofthesystemwiththeprocessfluid.Cleaningshallbeperformedintheworkshopunlessotherwisestipulatedintheequipmentspecification.Furtherfabrication,conditioning,transportation,siteinstallation,etc.,processesshallalsoincludedispositionstopreserveand（or）restitutetherequireddegreeofcleanliness.

Slightdegradationincleanlinessbetweenthetimethecomponentiscleanedandthetimewhenthesystemtowhichthecomponentpertainsisfilled,shallbeacceptableprovidedthat:

-thereisnoadverseeffectontheconservationofthecomponent,i.e.thereisnocorrosionofthematerials,

-therequireddegreeofcleanlinessmaybeobtainedbythenormalcleaningoperationscheduledforalaterphase.

Therespectoftherequirementsgiveninthischapterlimitsremedialcleaningoperations.

TheManufacturershallspecifyatwhichphaseinfabricationheconsidersthattherequirementsofthischaptershouldbeapplied.Thisphaseshallbe,attheverylatest,thephaseatwhichtherequireddegreeofcleanlinessisachieved.

F6140STRUCTUREOFTHISCHAPTER

F6200specifiestherulesforassigningcomponentstooneofthreecleanlinessclasses.Therequirementsofthischapterarebasedonthisclassification.

F6200alsospecifiestherequiredambientconditionsforcleaningandsubsequentworkoperations（workareas）.Theconceptofworkzonesontheconstructionsite,withspecificzonedesignationandconditionsapplicabletothevariousconstructionphasesaresimilarlyexplainedinthisparagraph.

F6300specifiestheteststobeperformedaftercleaningandtheassociatedcriteria.

F6400specifiesrulesforthepreventionofcontamination.

F6500specifiesrequirementsformainmethodsofcleaning.

F6600specifiestherequirementsforthepreservationofcleanlinessandforthefinalcleaningoperationsduringon-siteconstructionpriortostartup.

F6150REQUIREDDOCUMENTS

Operationsrelatingtocleaning,inspection,protection,preservation,packaging,storageandtransportationcoveredbythischaptershallbeperformedinaccordancewiththerequirementsspecifiedinproperlyidentifieddocuments（procedures,worksheet,instructionsheets,etc.）whichmustconformtotheapplicableparagraphsofthischapter.

Asthecasemaybe,thesedocumentsrelatespecificallytoagivencomponentorareapplicabletoaworkshoporconstructionsite.

TheyaredrawnupbytheManufacturerresponsiblefortheoperation.

F6200CLASSIFICATION

F6210CLEANLINESSCLASSES

Therearethreecleanlinessclasses,A,BandC（indecreasingorderofseverity）,whichareassignedinaccordancewiththetypesofsystemandprocessfluidcontainedinsidethenuclearisland.

Cleanlinessclassificationisapplicabletothesurfacesofcomponentsincontactwithprocessfluids*.

ClassAisdividedintosubclassesaccordingtotheaccessibilityofsurfaces:

-SubclassA1coverscomponentsurfaceswhichinthefinalstagesofconstruction,aredirectlyaccessibleforcleaningandexamination.

-SubclassA2coverscomponentsurfaceswhicharenotassignedtosubclassA1.

-SubclassA2isitselfdividedintofurthersubdivisions.

.SubclassA21cleanlinessappliestothesurfacesofcomponentswhicharesensitiveorofcomplexshape,whichrequirespecialconditionsforcleaning.

.SubclassA22cleanlinessappliestothesurfacesofallothersubclassA2components,withtheexceptionofpipingandfittingswhicharecoveredbysubclassA23.

F6220ASSIGNMENTOFCOMPONENTS

TOCLEANLINESSCLASSES

Theequipmentspecification,inaccordancewiththerequirementsgivenbelow,shallspecifytowhichcleanlinessclassorsubclassacomponentorcomponentpartshallbeassigned.

ClassAcleanlinessshallapplytoallcomponentswhoseprocessfluidistheprimaryfluidorfluidinjectedintotheprimaryfluid*.

ClassBcleanlinessshallapplytoallcomponentswhoseprocessfluidis:

-waterorsteamforthesecondarysideofthenuclearboiler（exceptforrecirculation）

（1）,

-waterfromthecomponentcoolingsystems,

-letdownofprimaryfluid（withoutre-injection）andliquid（stainlesssteelsurfaces）ornon-aeratedgaseouseffluents.

ClassCcleanlinessshallapplytoallcomponentswhoseprocessfluidisliquideffluent（surfacesotherthanstainlesssteel）oraeratedgaseouseffluent.

Throughoutthischapteraworkareashallbetakentomeanthesurroundingenvironmentintheimmediatevicinityofacomponentorcomponentpart（forexample,internalorexternalsurfaces）.

ParagraphF6240definesthreelevelsofworkarea.TheyaredesignatedI,IIandIIIaccordingtodecreasingorderofseverityofrequirements.

LevelIworkareasarerequiredforsurfacesincontactwiththeprocessfluidsforsubclass A21components.

LevelIIworkareasarerequiredforsurfacesincontactwiththeprocessfluidsforcomponentscoveredbysubclassesA1,A22andA23.

LevelIIIworkareasarerequiredforsurfacesincontactwithprocessfluidsforcomponentscoveredbycleanlinessclassesBandC.

However,fortheouterpartofsteamgeneratorstubebundles,levelIIworkareasarerequired.

Theconceptofworkareasshallonlybeapplicablesubsequenttoinitialcomponent（orcomponentpart）cleaningoperationsandtolateroperationswhichmayadverselyaffectcomponentcleanliness.Workareasmaybepermanentortemporaryandshallbeapplicabletofabricationshopsandconstructionsites.

Thesurroundingenvironmentintheimmediatevicinityofacomponentwhichisdesignatedasaworkareamay,asthecasemaybe,consistofanentirebuildingorworkshop,adelimitedareainsideashoporonaconstructionsite,orthewallofacomponentwithrespecttointernalsurfaceswhenadequatemeansofblankingoffthiswallareprovided.

F6240CHARACTERIZATIONOFWORKAREAS

F6241LEVELIWORKAREA

ThefollowingconditionsarerequiredforlevelIworkareas.

a）Enclosure

Aclosedorpressurizedenclosureshallbepermanentlyortemporarilyinstalledaroundcomponents.

Enclosuresshallprovideadequateprotectionagainstexternalcontaminationandanadequatedegreeofcleanliness.

b）Specialclothing

Personnelshallwearwhiteoverallswithnooutsidebuttons（zipfastenersshallbeusedwherepossible）.Pocketsshallbecapableofbeingfastened100%closed.Personnelshallwearaheadcovering,lint-freewhiteglovesandcleanshoesorovershoes.

Visitorsmaybeadmittedtotheworkareaprovidedthattheywearwhiteoverallsorsmocksandovershoes（andwhitegloveswherethereismanualcontactwithcomponents）.

c）Airfiltering

Themake-upairforpressurizedenclosuresshallbeclean,dryandfiltered.Theairshallbeblownthroughafilterwithanominalmeshsizelessthan20-30µm.

d）Accessforpersonnelandvisitors

Personnelshallhaveaccesstotheworkareathroughanair-lockoradjacentroomequippedwithchangingfacilities.Personnelshallchangeclothingonenteringorleavingtheworkarea.

e）Smoking,eatingorurinatingshallnotbeallowed.

f）Floors,wallsandceilings

Floorsshallbecoveredwithasmoothcoating（permanentandremovable）.Iftheenclosureispermanentallwallsandceilingsshallnotproducedust.

g）Creationofdust

Machiningandallactivitiesleadingtothecreationofdustinsidetheenclosureshallbelimitedtothestrictminimum.Wheresuchactivityisunavoidable,asystemshallbeinstalledtocollectandevacuatedust.

h）Cleaningoffloors

Floorsshallbekeptcleanatalltimes:

whenaspecificactivityproducesunwantedmaterial,suchmaterialshallberemovedimmediately.

i）Mechanicalprotection

Adequatemechanicalprotectionshallbeprovidedtoprotectcomponentsagainstheavyfallingbodies.Suchprotectionismandatoryontheplantforreactorinternals.

F6242LEVELIIWORKAREA

ThefollowingconditionsarerequiredforlevelIIworkareas.

a）Specialclothing

Personnelshallwearcleanclothesandcleanshoesorovershoes.

b）Pollution

Everyprecautionshallbetakentolimittheriskofpollutionbythepersonnel（food-drinks-cigarettes,etc.）
