  Yes,thatsamemorablesceneinoneofmyfavoritemovies,calledGorillasintheMist,basedonatruestoryofMrs.DianaFossey,whospentmostofherlifetimeinRwandatoprotecttheecoenvironmentthereuntiltheveryendofherlife.

  Tome,themovienotonlypresentsanunforgettablescenebutalsoactsasatimelessreminderthatweshouldnotdevelopthetouristindustryatthecostofoureco-environment.

  Today,weliveinaworldofprosperitybutstillthreatenedbysomanynewproblems.Ontheonehand,tourism,asoneofthemostpromisingindustriesinthe21stcentury,providespeoplewiththegreatopportunitytoseeeverythingthereistoseeandtogoanyplacethereistogo.Ithasbecomealifestyleforsomepeople,andhasturnedouttobethedrivingforceinGDPgrowth.Ithasthemagictoturnabackwardtownintoawonderlandofprosperity.Butontheotherhand,manyproblemscanoccur-naturalscenesarentnaturalanymore.DeforestationtoheatlodgesaredevastatingNepal.OilspillsfromtouristboatsarepollutingAntarctica.TribalpeopleareforsakingtheirnativemusicanddresstolistentoU2onWalkmanandwearNikeandReeboks.

  Alltheseappallingfactshavebroughtustotherealizationthatwecannolongerstandbyanddonothing,becausetheverythoughtofithasbeenerodingourresources.Encouragingly,theexplosivegrowthofglobaltravelhasputtourismagaininthespotlight,whichiswhytheUnitedNationshasmade20xxtheyearofecotourism,forthefirsttimetobringtotheworldsattentionthebenefitsoftourism,butalsoitscapacitytodestroyourecoenvironment.

  Theothernight,asIsawthemoonlingeroverthelandandbeforeitwassentintotheinvisible,mymindwasfilledwithsongs.Ifoundmyselfhummingsoftly,nottothemusic,buttosomethingelse,someplaceelse,aplaceremembered,aplaceuntouched,afieldofgrasswherenooneseemedtohavebeenexceptthedeer.

  Andallthoseunforgettablescenesstrengthenedthefeelingthatitstimeforustodosomething,forourownandourcominggeneration.

  Ourancestorslikedtobuildwalls.TheybuiltwallsinBeijing,Xian,Nanjingandmanyothercities,andtheybuilttheGreatWall,whichsnakesthroughhalfofourcountry.Theybuiltwallstowardoffenemiesandevilspirits.Thistraditionhasbeenmaintainedtothisdayaswestillhavemanyparksandschoolswalledofffromthepublic.Igrewupatthefootofthecitywalls,andIvelovedthemsincemychildhood.Foralongtime,wallswereoneofthemostnaturalthingsintheworld.
