8-intermediatefrontal（areafrontalisintermedia）.Locatedprimarilyinthesuperiorfrontalgyrusextendingfromthecingulatesulcusonthemedialsurfaceoverthemarginofthehemispheretothemiddlefrontalgyrus.Cytoarchitecturallyboundedcaudallybytheagranularfrontalarea6andventrallybythegranularfrontalarea9.

9-granularfrontal（areafrontalisgranularis）.Occupiesportionsofthesuperiorfrontalgyrusandthemiddlefrontalgyrus.Itsapproximateboundaryonthemedialaspectofthehemisphereisthecingulatesulcusand,onthelateralaspect,theinferiorfrontalsulcus.Cytoarchitecturallyboundeddorsocaudallybytheintermediatefrontalarea8,caudallybytheagranularfrontalarea6,andventrallybythefrontopolararea10,themiddlefrontalarea46andtheoperculararea44.

10-frontopolar（areafrontopolaris）.Occupiesthemostrostralportionsofthesuperiorfrontalgyrusandthemiddlefrontalgyrus.Onthemedialaspectofthehemisphereitisboundedventrallybythesuperiorrostralsulcus.Itdoesnotextendasfarasthecingulatesulcus.Cytoarchitecturallyboundeddorsallybythegranularfrontalarea9,caudallybythemiddlefrontalarea46,andventrallybytheorbitalarea47andbythefrontopolararea12.

11-prefrontal（areapraefrontalis）.Constitutesmostoftheorbitalgyri,gyrusrectusandthemostrostralportionofthesuperiorfrontalgyrus.Boundedmediallybytheinferiorrostralsulcusandlaterallyapproximatelybythefrontomarginalsulcus.Cytoarchitecturallyboundedontherostralandlateralaspectsofthehemispherebythefrontopolararea10,theorbitalarea47,andthetriangulararea45;onthemedialsurfaceitisboundeddorsallybythearea12andcaudallybythesubgenualarea25.

12-prefrontal（areapraefrontalis）.Occupiestheareabetweenthesuperiorrostralsulcusandtheinferiorrostralsulcus.Cytoarchitecturallyboundeddorsallybythefrontopolararea10andthedorsalanteriorcingulatearea32;caudally,ventrallyandrostrallyitisboundedbytheprefrontalarea11.（Originallydescribedaspartofprefrontalarea11butnotshowninthemap,subsequentlyitwaslabeledasanindependentarea12.）

17-striate（areastriata）.Partoftheoccipitallobeofthecerebralcortexthatisdefinedonthebasisofcyto-andmyeloarchitecture,primarilybytheband/stripeofGennari.

18-parastriate（areaparastriata）.Locatedinpartsofthecuneus,thelingualgyrusandthelateraloccipitalgyrusoftheoccipitallobe.Cytoarchitecturallyboundedononesidebythestriatearea17,fromwhichitisdistinguishedbyabsenceofaband/stripeofGennari,andontheotherbytheperistriatearea19.

19-peristriate（areaperistriata）.Locatedinpartsofthelingualgyrus,thecuneus,thelateraloccipitalgyrusandthesuperioroccipitalgyrusoftheoccipitallobewhereitisboundedapproximatelybytheparieto-occipitalsulcus.Cytoarchitecturallyboundedononesidebytheparastriatearea18whichitsurrounds.Rostrallyitisboundedbytheangulararea39andtheoccipitotemporalarea37.

20-inferiortemporal（areatemporalisinferior）.Correspondsapproximatelytotheinferiortemporalgyrus.Cytoarchitecturallyboundedmediallybytheectorhinalarea36,laterallybythemiddletemporalarea21,rostrallybythetemporopolararea38andcaudallybytheoccipitotemporalarea37.

21-middletemporal（areatemporalismedia）.Correspondsapproximatelytothemiddletemporalgyrus.Boundedrostrallybythetemporopolararea38,ventrallybytheinferiortemporalarea20,caudallybytheoccipitotemporalarea37,anddorsallybythesuperiortemporalarea22.

22-superiortemporal（areatemporalissuperior）.Correspondsapproximatelytothelateralandcaudaltwothirdsofthesuperiortemporalgyrus.Boundedrostrallybythetemporopolararea38,mediallybytheposteriortransversetemporalarea42,ventrocaudallybythemiddletemporalarea21anddorsocaudallybythesupramarginalarea39.

23-ventralposteriorcingulate（areacingularisposteriorventralis）.Occupiesmostoftheposteriorcingulategyrusadjacenttothecorpuscallosum.Atthecaudalextremeitisboundedapproximatelybytheparieto-occipitalsulcus.Cytoarchitecturallyboundeddorsallybythedorsalposteriorcingulatearea31,rostrallybytheventralanteriorcingulatearea24,andventrorostrallyinitscaudalhalfbytheretrosplenialregion.

24-ventralanteriorcingulate（areacingularisanteriorventralis）.Occupiesmostoftheanteriorcingulategyrusinanarcaroundthegenuofcorpuscallosum.Itsouterbordercorrespondsapproximatelytothecingulatesulcus.Cytoarchitecturallyboundedinternallybythepregenualarea33,externallybythedorsalanteriorcingulatearea32,andcaudallybytheventralposteriorcingulatearea23andthedorsalposteriorcingulatearea31.

25-subgenual（areasubgenualis）.Anarrowbandlocatedinthecaudalportionofthesubcallosalareaadjacenttotheparaterminalgyrusfromwhichitisseparatedbytheposteriorparolfactorysulcus.Itisboundedbytheprefrontalarea11rostrallyandbytheparaterminalgyruscaudally.

26-ectosplenial（areaectosplenialis）.Anarrowbandlocatedintheisthmusofcingulategyrusadjacenttothefasciolargyrusinternally.Itisboundedexternallybythegranularretrolimbicarea29.

28-entorhinal（areaentorhinalis）.Locatedintheentorhinalareaonthemedialaspectofthetemporallobe.Itandthedorsalentorhinalarea34togetherconstituteapproximatelytheentorhinalarea.

29-granularretrolimbic（arearetrolimbicagranularis）.Anarrowbandlocatedintheisthmusofcingulategyrus.Cytoarchitecturallyboundedinternallybytheectosplenialarea26andexternallybytheagranularretrolimbicarea30.

30-agranularretrolimbic（arearetrolimbicaagranularis）.Locatedintheisthmusofcingulategyrus.Cytoarchitecturallyboundedinternallybythegranularretrolimbicarea29,dorsallybytheventralposteriorcingulatearea23andventrolaterallybytheectorhinalarea36.

31-dorsalposteriorcingulate（areacingularisposteriordorsalis）.Occupiesportionsoftheposteriorcingulategyrusandmedialaspectoftheparietallobe.Approximateboundariesarethecingulatesulcusdorsallyandtheparieto-occipitalsulcuscaudally.Itpartiallysurroundsthesubparietalsulcus.Cytoarchitecturallyboundedrostrallybytheventralanteriorcingulatearea24,ventrallybytheventralposteriorcingulatearea23,dorsallybythegigantopyramidalarea4andpreparietalarea5andcaudallybythesuperiorparietalarea7.

32-dorsalanteriorcingulate（areacingularisanteriordorsalis）.Formsanouterarcaroundtheanteriorcingulategyrus.Thecingulatesulcusdefinesapproximatelyitsinnerboundaryandthesuperiorrostralsulcusitsventralboundary;rostrallyitextendsalmosttothemarginofthefrontallobe.Cytoarchitecturallyboundedinternallybytheventralanteriorcingulatearea24,externallybymedialmarginsoftheagranularfrontalarea6,intermediatefrontalarea8,granularfrontalarea9,frontopolararea10,andprefrontalarea11.

33-pregenual（areapraegenualis）.Anarrowbandlocatedintheanteriorcingulategyrusadjacenttothesupracallosalgyrusinthedepthofthecallosalsulcus.Cytoarchitecturallyboundedbytheventralanteriorcingulatearea24andthesupracallosalgyrus.

34-dorsalentorhinal（areaentorhinalisdorsalis）.Locatedintheentorhinalareaonthemedialaspectofthetemporallobe.Itandtheentorhinalarea28togetherconstituteapproximatelytheentorhinalarea.

35-perirhinal（areaperirhinalis）.Locatedalongtherhinalsulcus.Cytoarchitectuallyboundedmediallybytheentorhinalarea28andlaterallybytheectorhinalarea36.

36-ectorhinal（areaectorhinalis）.Locatedprimarilyinthefusiformgyrus,withitsmedialboundarycorrespondingapproximatelytotherhinalsulcus.Cytoarchitecturallyboundedlaterallyandcaudallybytheinferiortemporalarea20,mediallybytheperirhinalarea35androstrallybythetemporopolararea38.

37 - occipitotemporal （area occipitotemporalis）. Located primarily in the caudal portions of the fusiform gyrus and inferior temporal gyrus on the mediobasal and lateral surfaces at the caudal extreme of the temporal lobe. Cytoarchitecturally bounded caudally by the peristriate area 19, rostrally by the inferior temporal area 20 and middle temporal area 21 and dorsally on the lateral aspect of the hemisphere by the angular area 39.

38 - temporopolar （area temporopolaris）. Located primarily in the most rostral portions of the superior temporal gyrus and the middle temporal gyrus. Cytoarchitecturally bounded caudally by the inferior temporal area 20, the middle temporal area 21, the superior temporal area 22 and the ectorhinal area 36.

39 - angular （area angularis）. Corresponds to the angular gyrus surrounding the caudal tip of the superior temporal sulcus. Dorsally it is bounded approximately by the intraparietal sulcus. Cytoarchitecturally bounded rostrally by the suprama
