显然与众不同。
当然，这在以后的北京卷中再难找到。
这说明：
2002年的北京作为首都，一个首善之区，第一次独立命制的高考试卷，应该更加强调英语语言实际运用能力的考查，更应该建立在交际性语言活动模式的基础上。
而单项填空这道大题，原本是测试语法规则的，它这是便于检测考生对一个个语法规则、单词用法句型识别能力的测试，是脱离交际性语言活动模式这个基础的。
北京自主命题伊始，踌躅满志，决心给单项填空这道大题洗心革面。
事实上，在1995年启动的全国公共英语等级考试的所有等级（包括：
只要求会600个单词的一级B）的笔试试卷上再无单项填空这道大题的身影。
2004年走在前头的广东卷第二套试卷便是这样，只有听力、完形、阅读、写作四个大题，都是语篇，再无单个的孤立的句子了。
但是，北京卷第一年的尝试，显然遇到了什么，不知何故，又恢复了老样子了。
有道是：
旧习难改
（Oldhabitsdiehard），有好些人还是认为学外语就是背英汉对照单词表+熟读语法和句型。
这就是北京卷与上海卷相比，直至2012年，北京考生平均分没有像上海卷那样总是达到及格（即：
90分），甚至70分（即：
105分）以上的水平。
