WhenIwokeupfromthe operation,Ihadareallydrymouthandcouldn’twaittohavesomethingtoeatanddrink.Thebiggest shockofallcamewhenIwastoldthatIneededahearttransplantandwasputontheregister.The doctorswerestunnedathowquicklyheartfailurecameon–itusuallytakesyears,butittookmyheartlessthansixmonthstogettothatstage.Mywholeworldcamecrashingdown,butIstayedstrong.Itwasachoicebetweencryingeverydayand gettingonwithmylife.

Astimewenton,lifebecameevenharder.Ihatedfeelingweakallthetimeandneedinghelpwitheverything.ItgottothepointwhereIthoughtIwouldnevergetanewheart. I wasdiagnosedwithdepression.

EventhoughIthoughtthatChristmas2008wouldbemylast,IreallyenjoyeditandevenhadagoodNewYear.Everyone wascryingformewhentheclockstruckmidnightandtheytoldmetokeepfighting.

Aweeklater,Igotacallfromthedoctorssayingthey’dfoundasuitabledonor.Mywishcametrueandthankfullytheoperationwentwell.Ispentfourhoursinsurgerywheretheytookoutmyoldheartandputanewonein.WhenIwokeupIburstoutcrying.Ihadasecondchanceatlife.
