Idisagreeonalotofthewaysthatthingshavehappenedforalongtimeinour

educationalsystem.Itseemsthateducatorsjustwanttogive

standardizedtests,

whichfocusonlyonacademicperformanceandneglectstudents'abilitiesand

interestinotherareas.Ithinkthere'realotofpeoplewhoareveryintelligent,but

haven'thadtheopportunitiestheycouldhavehadiftheyhadlearnedinabroader-mindededucationalsystems.Ifeelthatalotofcoursesthatstudentsarerequiredto

takeinhighschoolaretooacademic,and,asaresult,manykidshavelosttheir

interestinlearning.

Educatorsoftenfailtorecognizevariouskindsofintelligence.Theysimplyexert

alotofpressureonstudentstobeaswell-roundedaspossible.Ithinkbeingwell-roundedisn'treallypossible.AndasaconsequencesomestudentsIbelievetobe

intelligentcan'tgetintogoodcollegesifthey,youknow,haven'tscoredwellonthe
