theyworkonconstructionsites,serveinrestaurantsandhairsaloonsdoingthelower-rankingjobs.Theyrendercitiesanewsourceoflaborforceandpouredcitieswithnewvigor.Thisphenomenonhasagreatimpactoncitiesandarousedpublicconcerns.Itseemshardtotellwhetheritisablessingoracurse.
Somecitydwellersdon'twelcometheseruralimmigrants.Theylookdownuponthemandalwaysfindfaultwiththem.It'sundeniablethatmanyproblemsemergedwiththeircoming.Wecanalwaysfindruralworkerswhosleeponthepavement,whoaresloppilydressedinpublicplacesandwhodon'tobeytrafficlaws.Someofthemdon'thaveasenseofsocialorderandactthewaytheylike.Thosewhodiscriminateagainstruralworkerscomplainthattheydeterioratetheimageandstatusofbigcities.Somecitizensalsobelievethattheyarethechiefculpritsoftherisingcrimerate.It'sinevitablethatnoteveryruralworkeriscompetitiveenoughforajobandsomemayruntheriskofviolatinglawstogainillegalincomes.
However,inmyhumbleopinion,thedemeritsoftheruralinvasioncouldnotwipeoutthemeritsthattheyhavemadegreatcontributionstotheprogressofoursociety.Weshouldnotforgetthearduousworktheytakeontomakeourcitybeautifulandmodern.Weshouldnotforgettheirdevotiontothebasicconstructionofoursociety.Withheartandsoul,theysacrificetheirwholeyouthwithoutanycomplaints.Thus,theycannotmerelybeevaluatedbythedemeritstheybrought.Withouttheseindustriousworkers,skyscraperscouldnothavebeenerected;roadscouldnothavebeenpaved;bridgescouldnothavebeenbuilt.Therefore,Iwanttoremindthosewhodiscriminateagainstruralworkers,theprosperityofthecitiesowesalottothemtheconstructorsofourbeautifulcityandthebuildersofourprosperouslife.Itisgratitudeandrespectweneedtoshowtheseheroes,notdisdain.
Chinahasalargepopulationof1.3billion,ofwhich900millionliveinruralareas.Mostoftheruralresidentsarestillstrugglingunderthepovertyline.Theimmigrantshaveheavyburdenstosupporttheirpoorfamilies.Workingincitiesisagoodopportunitybutalsoagreatchallengeforthesenewcomers.Thechallengenotonlyliesinsurvivalbutalsointherelationshipwithlocalresidents.Somecityhabitantsdisdainruralworkers,whiletheruralworkersalsohaveadeepprejudiceagainstus.Bothsidesneedbetterunderstandingandmorecommunication.Iftherewerenoprejudice,therewouldbemoreunderstandingandrespectandtherewouldbenoconflicts.
