CarsoncompletedherMaster\'sinzoologyinJuneof1932,andwenttoworkatalocalradiostation.HereshewouldwriteeducationalbroadcastsforaweeklyradioshowcalledRomanceUndertheWaters.ThisledhertoherjobattheU.S.BureauofFisheries,andshebecamejustthesecondwomantobeemployedbythebureau.
