OneofthosepeopleisBrettMyers.In2011,MyersstartedNourishNow,afoodrecoveryandfoodbankintheU.S.stateofMaryland.Thisnonprofitorganizationcollectsfoodandthengivesittothepoorandorganizationsthatsupportthem.

“NourishNowisafoodrecoverybasedfoodbankthatrecoversfoodfromrestaurants,cateringcompanies,grocerystores,hotels,farmsandmore.Andthendonatesthatfooddirectlytofamiliesinneed,kidsinneedatlocalschools.”

Eachmonth,itrecoversmorethan20,000kilogramsoffoodandserves700needyfamilies,schoolsandsocialorganizations.Everyday,staffandvolunteersrepackagethedonationsanddistributethemtorecipients(接受者).

AwomannamedRhodaisoneoftherecipients.ShedescribesthequalityofthefooddeliveredtoherfamilybyNourishNow.“Itconsistsoffreshfood,fruitsandvegetables.Youwillgetbread.SometimesyougetdairyProductssuchasyogurtormilk.Andyouwillgetsomemeatitemsalso.Andifyougetluckyyoumightgetcookedfood,orpreparedsalads,andstufflikethat.”
