LionGroveGardenisfamousasarepresentativegardenoftheYuandynasty(1279-1368).constructiononitstartedin1342.originallynamedBodhiorthodoxmonastery,itwasbuiltbythemonkTianruforhisteacher,themonkzhongfengwholivedatLioncliffinthewestTianmumountainsinzhejiangProvince,andinthegardenwerealargenumberofrocksshapedlikelions.

Repairedmanytimesduringtheming(1368-1644)andQing(1644-1911)dynasties,thegardenisnotedforitsrockeriesandcoversanareaof16.7mu,or

2.7acres.mostofitshillsareinthesoutheasternpartofthegardenwhilethepondsandstreamsareinthenorthwest.itranksamongtheuniquegardensinSuzhou.anditislistedastheworldculturalheritageofUnESco.

itwasQianlongEmperor(1736-1796)whomadethisgardenwell-knowninchina.TheemperorvisitedthegardensixtimesduringhisfiveinspectiontoursinourareasouthoftheYangtzeRiver.HehadtheverygardencopiedinbothBeijingandchengde.Helikedthegardenanditsrockeriessomuchthatheleftthreeinscription,drewthreepaintingswiththegarden’ssceneryasthetheme,andcomposedtenpoems,oneofwhichwasinscribedonasteladisplayedinthegarden.

Behindthemagnificentgateofitsentrancehallisspaciouscourtyardpavedwithrectangularstone-slabsandsurroundedwithacorridor.anditstretchesforhundredsofmetresalongthenorthernpartsusedtobelivingquartersincludinghalls,studiosandpavilions.Thegarden’swesternandsouthernpartsareenclosedbyzigzagcorridoradornedwithstelaeandkiosks.

Facingtheentrancehallistheancestors’memorialHall,whichisveryimposing.displayedinsidethehallareawholesetofmahoganyfurniturewithapairofbrasslionsfordecoration.Hungabovethewhitewallisawoodenplaquewrittenwithfourbigcharacters,whichmeantheexcellentexpertiseingardenconstructionengagedbyniYunlin,thegarden’sprincipaldesignerintheYuandynasty.

Towardtosouth,sstonebridgewemayseeaforestofrockyformations,cypressesandseveralstalagmitespicturesquelyarrangedtoformthegarden’smainscenicattractions.

TherockeriesherearebuiltofrocksfromtheTaihuLakeandcoveralmosthalfthegarden’ssurface.Thehighlightamongthemisamazeofmountainpathsamidstpeaksandthroughgrottoes.Totallythereare21cavesunderneath,whileareallconnectedwithninezigzagpathslinkingupanddownthehill,extendingtoalldirections.Peoplesayitisalabyrinthofcaves.Sightseersunfamiliarwiththesecavesmayeasilylosetheirwayinthem.

TheSleeping-on-cloudschamberislocatedinthecentreoftherockeries.itisaveryquietplacewhereinolddaysmonksusedtocultivatetheirminds.Sothefounderofthegarden,monkTianru,wroteinapoem,“peoplesayiaminacity,butisuspectiamamongtensofthousandsofmountains.”cominghere,wemayfeelasifwehaveenteredaforestofstone.

TheLotusFlowerHalloverlooksalotuspondandisagoodplaceforthosewholiketolookatlotusesinbloominsummer.it’spopularlycalledtheFlowerBasketsHallbecauseitisdecoratedwithsomewoodencarvingsshapedlikeflowerbasketsundertheroof.awoodentablethungabovebearsfourcharactersreadingSuidianFengLei,whichmeanwaterasFoundationandBreezecoming.

Thepavilionissplendidlydecoratedwithsomedesignsgilded.Forviewingthegarden’sscenery,peoplemaysitonspecially-designedchairsknownascascade-ViewingPavilion,islocatedinthemiddleofthezigzagbridge.itisanidealplacetoseetheman-madewaterfallonthewesternrockeryhill.

ThebuildingbehindthestoneboatisnamedthechamberofSubtleFragranceandSpareShadows.ontherockeriesinfrontofthechamberafewplumtreesblossominearlyspring,spreadingfaintaroma.Hencethename.

TheStanding-in-SnowHallissituatedontheeasternsideofthecorridor,whereEmperorQianlong’sstelaisdisplayed.itisrecordedthattwostudiousyoungscholarsintheSongdynastyoncecametoseekinstructionsfromtheirteacherwhenitwassnowing.Buttheteacherhappenedtobesleeping,sotheystoodinthecourtyardandwaiteduntiltheirteacherwokeup.whenthelattergotoutofthebed,hesawhisstudentsstandinginthesnow.deeplymovedbythetwoyoungmen’sconduct,hehadhisbuildingrenamedtheStanding-in-SnowHall.

女士们,先生们,下午好,首先我代表苏州姑苏旅行社热烈欢迎大家的到来,很高兴有这样一个机会与大家合作、相处。

我是大家苏州之行的导游员,大家也可以叫我小高,坐在前方驾驶位置上的司机王师傅是我们旅行社的老司机,王师傅驾驶技术娴熟,更有着几十年的驾车经验,所以请大家对我们旅途的行车安全尽管放心。

俗话说“十年修得同船渡”,那我们今天就是“十年修得同车行”了。

景点讲解

今天,我们将要参观的是苏州四大名园之一的狮子林,苏州四大名园即是指拙政园、狮子林、沧浪亭、留园。

狮子林始建于元代至正元年间,距今已有六百多年的历史了。

这座园林是元代僧人天如禅师为纪念他的老师中峰禅师所建,第一道门额上的“师子林”的师就是老师的“师”。

后来因为园内假山众多,形如狮子,所以在写法上又改为“狮子林”。

狮子林素有“假山王国”的美誉。

请大家向上看,检票处门额上的“狮子林”这三个字就是清乾隆皇帝的御笔。

前面就是正厅,也就是原来的贝家祠堂。

请顺着我手指的方向看去,屋檐上方有三个神仙,分别是福禄寿三星,在右边还有一个小孩,这就是说,贝家祖先希望子孙在福禄寿三星的庇佑下能后兴旺发达、光宗耀祖、子孙满堂。

现在我们看到的就是有太湖石堆砌而成的九狮峰。

仔细看,会发

现不同形态的九只狮子。

我们常说,这世界上不是缺少美,而是缺少发现美的眼睛;三分长相,七分想象。

能看到几头狮子就要看大家的想象力了。

据说,当年乾隆皇帝下江南来到狮子林曾在此数狮子,一开始,皇帝看到了两只狮子,后来听到大臣们说三只、四只、七只,皇帝脸上挂不住,心里更急,便夸下海口说自己看到九头狮子。

在中国古代,九为阳数的极数,即单数的最大数,是只有皇帝才能用的,如帝王之位称“九五”,帝王称“九五之尊”。

皇帝都说找到九只了,大臣们也只好附和,所以得名“九狮峰”。

站在我们这个角度看去,可以很清楚的看到三只狮子,右边是一只母狮,中间张开嘴的是一只公狮,在公狮的右下方是一只幼狮。

在现在,它又称“全家福”。

大家可以在此拍照留念。

现在我们来到了狮子林的主体:

假山群。

假山占地面积1.78亩,它是按照五行八卦堆砌而成的,上下3层,有9条路线,21个洞口。

整个假山群都是由江苏太湖石堆成的。

太湖石又叫窟窿石,假山石,是石灰岩由于长时间的侵蚀后慢慢形成的,松软的石质容易风化,而比较坚硬的地方保存下来,这样在漫长的岁月里,太湖石逐步形成了曲折圆润的形态。

这也充分体现了假山石的特点:

瘦、漏、透、皱、丑。

乾隆皇帝十次下江南,就曾六次来到狮子林,对这个假山群甚是喜爱,因为距离太远,乾隆就在圆明园、承德避暑山庄仿建了两座狮子林。

其中有一次,皇帝独自一人在假山里钻来钻去,感觉很有趣,可是走了两个时辰,也就是现在的四个小时也没有走出来。

后来,苏

州当地的一个精通八卦的秀才站在高处看到了皇帝,把乾隆从假山群中领了出来。

皇帝好面子,便提笔写下了“真有趣”三个字。

秀才一看,觉得皇帝题出这样的三个字有失水准,灵机一动便向乾隆说:

““有”字写的非常好,能不能将这个字赐给奴才?

”乾隆也是一点即悟,当下便”三个字那么俗气了,这便是真趣亭的由来。

接下来是半个小时的自由参观时间,大家若想爬假山,请先仔细听我讲讲爬这个假山的黄金法则,由于它是按照五行八卦堆砌的,所以在接下来的探索过程中,我们要一直沿着一个方向走,就是说在有岔路的地方,如果选择了向右拐,就有一直向右拐;如果是向左拐,就要一直向左拐。

大家也可以找找乾隆题字的真趣亭。
