Transportationengineering(交通运输系统)istheapplicationoftechnologyandscientificprinciplestotheplanning,functionaldesign,operation,andmanagementoffacilitiesforanymodeoftransportationinordertoprovideforthesafe,rapid,comfortable,convenient,economical,andenvironmentallycompatiblemovementofpeopleandgoods.

Trafficengineering(交通工程)isthatphaseoftransportationengineeringwhichdealswiththeplanning,geometricdesignandtrafficoperationsofroads,streets,andhighways,theirnetworks,terminals,abuttinglands,andrelationshipswithothermodesoftransportation.
