试论情景教学法在中国小学英语教学中的应用

摘要:

在现代社会,英语教育有着非常重要的地位。

为了促进英语教学,在中国的某些小学,情景教学法已经被广泛采用。

在英语教学过程中,学生只有在真实的语言情景或模拟的情景中才能更好地组织思维,理解具体情景中所传递的信息和语言材料,激发表达思想的欲望,从而培养运用英语理解和表达思维的能力。

情景教学令学习环境轻松愉快;令语言知识变得生动有趣;令学生学习兴趣盎然。

小学英语教学的目的就在于使学生爱学、乐学、善学。

教师作为教学的主导者,应充分利用现代化的教学手段,如多媒体、幻灯、音像,使教学更加生动形象,主动创设一些与课文相关的情景,并充分利用"情景教学"这一重要方法扩展教学形式,培养学生学习英语的兴趣,提高英语教学的效果。

Abstract

Inmodernsociety,Englisheducationplaysanimportantrole.InordertopromotetheteachingandlearningofEnglishinChineseelementaryschools,situationalteachinghasbeenwidelyadopted.IntheprocessofEnglishteaching,onlywhenthestudentsareputinauthenticlanguagesituationsorsimulatedsceneriescantheybetterorganizetheirthinkingandunderstandthespecificsituationsinwhichthemessageandlanguagematerialsaretransmitted.Italsoinspiresthestudents’desiretoexpresstheirthoughtssoastopromotetheabilitytounderstandandexpressideasbyusingEnglish.SituationalTeachingMethodmakestheteachingandlearningenvironmentpermeatedwitharelaxedandjoyfulatmosphere,makestheknowledgeofthelanguagebecomelivelyandinterestingandallowsstudentstolearnwithimmenseinterest.ThepurposeofEnglishteachinginprimaryschoolsistoenablestudentstolovelearning,enjoylearningandbegoodatlearning.Teacherasateachingleader,shouldmakefulluseofmodernteachingfacilities,suchasmultimedia,slides,audioandvideomeanstomaketeachingprocessmorevividandtaketheinitiativetocreatesituationscloselyrelatedtothetextbook.Teachersshouldtakeadvantageof"situationalteaching"toexpandteachingformstrainingandcultivatestudents’interestinlearningEnglishsoastoimprovetheefficiencyofEnglishteaching.

Introduction

TherearemanykindsofteachingmethodsbeingusedinEnglishteaching.AndtheSituationalTeachingMethodbecomesapopularforeignlanguageteachingmethodgradually.TheSituationalTeachingMethodreferstoakindofsocialenvironmentwhichconveystheinformationinEnglishandfocusesonthescenesorcontext.Anylanguageandcommunicationactivitycancometrueinsomespecialscene.Thepupils’thinkingisvisualized,soteacherscanprovidealargequantityofaudio-visualdigitalresourcestocreatetheatmosphereofEnglishlisteningandspeaking.Itiswell-knownthattheSituationalTeachingMethodisbasedonthetheoryofappliedlinguisticsandusessomeachievementsofthestructurallinguistics.Thescenesinfluencethesenseorgansoflearnersandmakepupilshavethemotivationtocommunicatewithothers.

Psychologistspointoutstudents’learningmotivationandtheirthirstforknowledgecannotappearnaturally,whiletheydependontheteachingsceneswhichteacherssetup.Soteachersmustusuallysetupvariouskindsofscenesforstudentsconsciously.AsformostofChinesepupilswholackEnglishlanguagelearningatmosphere,itisnecessarytocreatescenesfortheirEnglishlearning.Englishisusedasatoolforcommunication,soitrequiresteacherstoprovidestudentschancestospeakthroughvariouskindsofsetting-upscenes.TheSituationalTeachingMethodemphasizesstudents’abilitiesoflisteningandspeaking.Nowadays,peopleareoverwhelmedbyEnglish;evenpupilsbegintostudyEnglishatanearlyage.Therefore,theteachersplayanimportantroleinEnglishteachingandlearning.Thenhowtochooseamethodisquiteimportantduringdifferentperiods.

SituationalTeachingMethodmakestheteachingandlearningenvironmentinarelaxedandjoyfulatmosphere;makestheknowledgeofthelanguagebecomelivelyandinterestingandallowsstudentstolearnwithimmenseinterest.ThepurposeEnglishteachinginprimaryschoolistoenablestudentstolovelearning,enjoylearningandbegoodatlearning.Teacherasateachingleader,shouldmakefulluseofmodernteachingmethods,suchasmultimedia,slides,audioandvideomeanstomaketeachingprocessmorevividandtaketheinitiativetocreatesituationscloselyrelatedtothetextbook.Teachersshouldtakeadvantageof"situationalteaching"toexpandteachingformstrainingandcultivatestudents’interestinlearningEnglishinordertoimprovetheeffectivenessofEnglishteaching.

Theeducationistsadvocateanewtheorythattherearemanyteachingmethodsbutnofixedteachingmethod.TheSituationalTeachingMethodisusedintheelementaryEnglishteaching.Tomakeitsimple,thepurposeofelementaryEnglishlearningis“listeningandspeakingfirst,whilereadingandwritingsecond”.IntheEnglishteaching,theeducationalmodelthatisusedbyteachersin40%ofelementaryschoolsistheSituationalTeachingMethod,80%ofelementaryschoolteachers’replyis"theoralsentencepatterndrill",whileonly15.43%ofelementaryschoolteachers’answeris“thewrittentest-likeexercises"1

Fromthissurvey,theSituationalTeachingMethodissuitableforpupils.Howtoarousestudents’interestsanddeveloptheirabilitiesisaproblemneedingmorecare.Teacherscaninstructstudentsthroughimitatingtherealscenesinordertomakestudentsuseintheireverydayliveswhattheyhavelearntinclassroom.ItcanbefoundthatpupilscanbenefitalotfromtheSituationalTeachingMethod.
