PeckmadefiveattemptsbeforeshefinallyclimbedtothetopofMountHuascaran.Betweenexpeditions(探险),PeckreturnedtotheUStoraisemoney.Shereceivedhelpfrommanyscientificorganizations,includingtheMuseumofNaturalHistory.

In1908,Peckscrapedtogether(勉强凑齐)themoneyforanotherexpeditiontoMountHuascaran.ThistimeshehiredtwoSwissguides.Ontheirfirsttrip,oneoftheguidesbecameseriouslyill,andtheentireteamwasforcedtoturnback.Aftertheguiderecovered,they,setoffagain.Theclimbwasextremelydifficult.Theweatherwassocoldthateveryone,sufferedfromfrostbite.OneoftheguidestookadvantageofPeck'sdistraction(分心)andclimbed,thefewremainingfeettothetopsothathecouldsaythathehadgottherebeforeher.AlthoughPeckwasangry,shefocusedonthesuccessinachievinghergoal.OnSeptember2,1908,AnniePeckfinallystoodatthetopofMountHuascaran.
