  Wesometimesassume,wrongly,thatoldpeoplearetooconfusedorseniletobeawareofthenearnessofdeath.Inconsequence,communicationbetweenadyingandothersissubjecttoextraordinaryomissionsanddistortions."Protecting"thedyingfromknowledgeoftheirconditionoftenservestoprotectusfromtheuncomfortableprospectoftalkingaboutdyinganddeath.Evasionslikethisonlyleadtoincreasingisolationatatimewhenemotionalhonestyandunderstandingaremostneeded.
