Bookscanarmuswithknowledgeandinformationweneedtomakesuccessoflife.Therearegenerallytwowaysinwhichwecanhaveaccesstobooks:

borrowingorbuying.Whilemillionsareborrowingbooks,Istillthinkbuyingthembestsuitsmeandgivesmethegreatestpleasure.  

Manypeoplechoosetoborrowbooks.Foronething,borrowingbookscansaveushugeamountsofmoney.Foranother,ifweborrowbooksfromthelibraryorfriends,wenormallyhavedeadlinetofinishthem.Andconsequentlywecanreadmorebooksinalimitedtime,justasafamousChinesesayinggoes,“bookscannotbereadunlessborrowed.”

Ibelievethatadvantagesforbuyingbooksaremoreobviousandcompelling.Firstly,wecankeepthebooksaslongaswewish.Secondly,wecantakewhatevernotesonthemarginofthepagesofthebooks.Finally,theprocessofselectingandkeepingbookscanbeagreatfun.

 Today,morethaneverbefore,wedependontheexpediencybroughtaboutbysuchmoderndevicesasphones.Asaresult,whenwefeeltheneedtocommunicatewithfriends,insteadofpickingupthepentosetdowntoseriouswriting,wepickupthephone.Indeed,wespeaksomuchandwritesolittlethatsomepeoplebegintosuspectthatphoneswillkillletterwriting.Howeverwidelyuseditistoday,thephonewillnottaketheplaceofletter,forbothphoneandletterwritinghaverespectivefunctionstoperform.

Thereareatleasttworeasons,asfarasIamconcerned,whythiswillnothappen.Foronething,althoughphonesadmittedlyhavealreadytakenovermanyrolestraditionallyplayedbytheletter,therearecertainareassuchascommercialtransactionsandlegalcorrespondence,inwhichblackandwhitesincerityandconfirmationisstillamust.Foranother,innowaycanaquickphoneconversationconveyandaccomplishasmuchasadeliberate,wellwordedletterdoes.Forinstance,thereseemstobenobetterdevicethanletterwritingtoexpressdeep,heart-felt,profoundlove,afactunderlinedbytheenormouslovelettersofgreatmenandwomen

Asweknow,inthe1960’s,therehadbeensomuchtalkthatTVwouldkillnewspapers.Andithasneverhappened.Todayweareinasimilarsituation.Wecanbecertain,forthereasonsdiscussedabove,thatletterwritingisirreplaceable.

 AccordingtoTheNewOxfordDictionaryofEnglish,frustration,bydefinition,meansthefeelingofbeingupsetorannoyed,especiallybecauseofinabilitytochangeorachievesomething.Sincefrustrationseemstobeanegativefeeling,somepeoplemaybetemptedtothinkthatfrustrationisbadforpeople.Theybelievethatconstantfrustrationmaycauseseriousmentalproblems.Peoplesufferingfromsuchpsychologicalproblemsoftenresorttoviolenceorsuicide,whichposesabigthreattothepeoplearoundthemandthuscausesinstabilitytothewholesociety.

 Others,however,holdadifferentview.Theymaintainthatitisbeneficialtopeople.Itgoessidebysidewithsuccess.Itinspirespeopletoovercomehardshipsanddifficultiesandachievethefinalsuccess.Peoplewiththisviewevengosofarastosaythatnofrustration,nosuccess.Indeed,wecannotalwayshopetoembracesuccessandneveracceptfailure.Andmostimportantly,onlyifwelearnfrommanyafailurecanwedothingsbetterandfinallyovercomesuchabadfeelingasfrustration.

 Frustrationthusispartofourlifeexperience.Inourprocessofgrowingup,wemayinevitablyexperienceitwhenconfrontedwithsituationsthatdon’tcomeuptoourexpectations.Itisatestofourcouragewhenitbefallsus.Ifweletitcontrolus,wemayfallintotheabyssofbeinginflictedbyseriouspsychologicalproblems.Butifweharnessitandtakeitasoursourceofinspiration,wemayultimatelyenjoythegloryofsuccess.
