摘要

爱情与婚姻是人类永远的主题，是人类生存所面临的重大悖论之一，它不只是一个社会问题，更是一个永恒的人类问题。

历来学者们对这个问题各持己见。

影片《我爱天上人间》讲述的是三位恋人在云南世博园旅游参观时各自发生的故事。

影片《爱很复杂》则是一部关于爱情、离婚及其有关一切的电影。

本文针对中美两部电影《我爱天上人间》和《爱很复杂》中人物对婚姻的看法和行动，来分析影片中所涉及到的中美爱情观差异。

Abstract

ThispaperdealswiththevalueoflovebetweenChineseandAmerican.Loveandmarriageistheinternalthemeofhuman,isoneofthemajorparadoxeswhichourhumanfacing,itisnotjustasocialproblem,butaninternalhumanproblem.Traditionallyscholarsallhavetheirownideasaboutthisproblem.Thefilm“lovetrilogy”isastorywhichhappenedintheYunnaninternationalhorticulturalexpogardenaboutthreelovers.Thefilm“it’scomplicated”isamovieaboutlove,divorceandeverythingwhichmarriageinvolved.Thispapertellsaboutthevalueofloveamongtheheroesandtheheroinesinthetwofilms“lovetrilogy”and“it’scomplicated”,thenanalyzesthedifferentvalueoflovebetweenChineseandAmerican.

1.Introduction

Marriageisanimportantpartofhumanlife,differentcountriesandcountrieswithdifferentagesofthepeopleonmarriagepointareofobviousdifferent,especiallyinthedifferentcountries.Asthedevelopmentoftheproductiveforces,especiallythehumanracesteppedintothe21stcentury,andinthetideofglobalization,alongwitheachothermaterialcivilizationofblendingofculturalvaluesofeachother.Differentareasofmarriagebetweentheideasofitreflecttheculturalinfiltrationofinfluence.ThispaperiswrittenunderthebackgroundofthefastdevelopedmarriageofChinaandAmerican.ThispaperanalysisthedifferentvalueofmarriageinChinaandAmericanthroughtwofilms:

“LoveTrilogy”and“It’sComplicated”.ByanalysisPeople’sideasaboutthechoiceofspouse,theirattitudestowardsmarriageandtheirattitudestowardsdivorce,wegivethedifferentvalueofmarriageinChinaandAmerican.

TheUnitedStatesandChinabothhavetheirownhistoryandculture,whichcausedpeople’svaluesandworldoutlookgreatlydifferent.Thetwomovies,thepaperselectedcanfullydemonstratethedifferentvalueofmarriageinfluencedbydifferentcultures.

2.1Thestudyofthefilmit’scomplicated

It’sComplicatedisafilmdirectedbyNancyMeyersin2009.It’sComplicatedisamovieaboutlove,divorceandeverythingwhichmarriageinvolved.ThestorystartedwithJane.Shehasthreechildren,andrunsaChristmasBarbarabakery,everythingseemssatisfied.Althoughshehasdivorcedtenyears,butstillkeepgoodrelationshipwithherex-husbandJack.However,theyleavethetowntogototheson'sgraduationceremony,everythingseemstobecomplicatedandtheymeettheirownlove.Jackmarriedwithayoungbeautifulgirl,andJanefallsinlovewithanarchitecthappenedtodecoratingherkitchenAdam.ButtherelationshipbetweenJaneandJakeissocomplicatedthattheydon’tknowhowtodealwitheachother.Love,it'sreallycomplicated.

2.2Thestudyofthefilmlovetrilogy

LoveTrilogyisamovieaboutwhichhappenedintheYunnaninternationalhorticulturalexpogardenaboutthreelovers.

Thefirstpairoflover,MarkandMissCui,iscomingfromHongKong;theyhavebeenmarriedforsevenyears.Theyarechildhoodfriendandgrowtogether,it’snowonderthattherestoftheirlifeshallgotogether.Throughtheyarenotrich,theyarehard-working,theyhavethetypicalspiritofHongKongpeople——fighting.However,oneyearago,theymeetthefinancialturmoilsothattheycan’tearnbacktheproperty.Theyhavenothing,bothfeelsad,andbecomenotloveeachother.

Thesecondpairoflover,XuJingandLiuBaisheng，iscomingfromShanghai,theycomeheretohavetheirhoneymoon.Baishengisaworkaholic,heseldomcareaboutXuJing.BeforetheywenttoYunnan,XuJingfoundherselfinapregnantatherworkingplace.Thenshebecomeworriedaboutthis.Unfortunately,Baishenghaven’tthoughthimbedad.Theyfound,theyneedtofiteachotheraftertheymarried,orevenmakeaconcession.Life,infact,isreallydifficult.

Thethirdpairoflover,SongZimingandBobo,iscomingfromKorea.Theyfallinlovewitheachotherforonlyhalfayear.Beingasophomore,Zimingloveromantic,loveliterature,andwanttocomeChinafortheparadiseplaceShangri-la.andBoboisadressedwellgirlandalsoapeacockishvaingloriousgirl.Whentheyfirstknoweachother,ZimingfoundBoboistherightgirlinhimheart.However,theybothfoundtheydoesn’tloveeachother.Likemanyyoungman,theyarestillfindingtheirrightone.Whattheyactdonottheseemaswhattheyreallyis.

Tothethreelovers,guideLiuhaveherownview.Duringthethreedaysofintroduringtheexpogarden,sheactas“amatch-maker”tothethreelovers.Throughshedoeswhatshecantohelpthethreeloverstoloveeachother,somedisturbancealsohappened.Finally,ZimingandBobowerebreakup.ForZimingiseagertogotoShangri-la,howcanhestophere?

SoheaskedtoLiuhaiwhethersheisstillcontinuetobebistourguide.Liuhaiisaverykind-heartedgirl,shepromisedtogowithhimtofinishZiming’sdesires.

WhentheyarrivedattheShangri-la,thingsseemchanged.Forsomereasons,maybetheplaceissobeautiful,thetwoyoungpeoplefallinlovewitheachother.InZiming’sheart,Liuhaiisagreenhandonthis.Sheevendon’tknowwhatsheshoulddonext.

3.Statethedifferentvalueofmarriageaboutthetwofilms

3.1ThevaluesofselectingspouseinChineseandAmerican:

Influencedbytraditionalcultureandethics,today’sparentsstillsterntotheirchildren.Theylettheirchildrenfollowedtheroadtheyhavealreadydesigned.Onthiscase,manypeoplelacktheabilityofindependentandthisabilitycanjustbetterembodiesinmarriage.Whensomeonethinksheorsheshallgetmarried,theywillaskfortheirparents’ideasabouttheirdecision.Ontheissuesofselectingspouse,parentsstill“makeadifference”.But,incontract,inAmerican,whethermanandwomangetmarriedisaboutwhetherthetwocanmatcheachotherorgoalongwitheachother,theydon’tcareaboutother’sattitudetowardsmarriage.WhenthisdifferentvalueinChinaandAmericantransferredwithtime,thevalueofmarriagewillalsochanged.

Cultureofhistoryisthemajorfactorstoinfluencethedifferencevalueofselectingspouse.AccordingtoasurveyreportofNankaiuniversity,themaindifferentvalueofselectingspousecontains:

inChina,whenselectingspouse,inthedescriptionoftheself,age,educationlevel,marriagehistoryappearance,good,conduct,haveorhaven’tchildrenarealmostthesame.Whileinheight,professional,housing,health,thisthreeitems,therearesignificantdifference,andmanismorethanwoman.InBoston,inthedescriptionofself,age,height,educationlevel,race,religion,marriagehiatory“intelligent”,“haveasenseofhumor,”“artisticbreath”havenosignificantdifferencesbetweenmaleandfemale.Whileincareer,hobbies,“lovesport”or“friendly”,“lovelife”severalaresignificantdifferences.Amongthem,manprefertodescribethemincareer,“lovesport”,“lovelife”threeitems.However,womentendtothetwoitems,hobbies,“friendly”.

3.2TheattitudestowardmarriageinChineseandAmerican

Themainreasonofthedifferentvalueofselectingspouseisthedifferentvaluetowardmarriage.TheChinesepayattentionstointerpersonalrelationship,theythinkthatmarriageisnotjustthecombinationoftwoindividuals.Parentslettheirchildrengetmarried,inthesurface,theygettheirchildrenmarried;infact,theparentsdothisisforthewholefamily.IntraditionalChinesesociety,marriageisthebiggestthingsinthewholefamily;everyoneinthefamilyisinvolved.Fromthis,wecanseetheChineseweddingisforothers,mangetmarriedistobreed,istothefamily’sboundendutyandheldakindofresponsibility.Forthem,gettingmarriedisafamily’sboundenduty,andthemoreimportantisoneoftheirrights.Asamemberofsociety,theyhavearighttoresponsetotheirfutureandvariousdemands.
