Overtheyears,therehavebeenmanybooksaboutthistragedy.However,veryfewhavebeenwrittenfromtheperspective(视角)oftheyoungpassengers.ThisiswhyISurvivedtheSinkingoftheTitanic,1912byLaurenTarshisisfunanddifferent.Theauthorusesfactsfromtherealtragedyandmakesupaheart-stoppingadventurestorystarringasmartandbraveboyGeorgeCalder.AfterspendinganexcitingvacationinEnglandwiththeirAuntDaisy,ten-year-oldGorgeandhislittlesisterPhoebe,wereheadinghometoAmerica,aboardthegreatestshiponearth,theTitanic!

ThenonthenightofApril14th,thefirstsignofdisasterappeared---theluxuryshiphitahugeiceberg.ButgiventhateverybodyintheworldknewthattheTitanicwasunsinkable,therewasverylittlecauseforpanic.Theywereallconfidentthattheship'sengineerswouldbeabletorepairthe"slight"damagethathadbeencausedbytheiceberg.

This,ofcourse,turnedouttobeuntrue.WithinafewhourstheTitanicwasnotonlysinking,butfasterthanmostpeoplehadtimetoreact.Addedtothiswasthefactthattherewerenotenoughlifeboatstotakeallthepassengerstoshore.Ifthatwasnotenough,whentheemergencycalltogetonthedeckcame,GorgerealizedthathissisterPhoebewasmissing.

Boyswhohavedonebestintheclasseswinscholarships,andaresenttotheSunriseBoardingSchool.About30boyshavewonthiskindoffinancialaid.Allthestudentsaremale,becausefewgirlsinRwandalivefreelyonthestreet.
