Whenmeasuringitiscomparedwithfixedmeasuringunits.

Lengthsaremeasuredwithameteringruleincentimetresandmillimetre,unitsofweightwithascaleinkilogrammesandgrammes,timeismeasuredwithaclockinhoursandminutesandtemperatureismeasuredwithathermometerindegrees.

Theseunitsaredefinedinthe“internationalunitsystem”(SI).

Thefollowingbasicunitshavearelevanceformechanicalmeasurements:

∙second(s)forthetime.

Furthermore,therearebasicunitsforelectricalamperage(Ampere),voltage(Volt),temperature(Kelvin)andforintensityoflight光强(Candela烛点).
