In2015,the50thanniversaryofthenation’sfoundingwasaccompaniedbyanrushofsentimentalityoverSingapore’sroots.ThesedaysofficialsareabitreadiertotolerateSingapore’slinguisticvariety.Meanwhile,youngerSingaporeansareembracingformermothertongues.SkiYeoandEugeneLeeweremotivatedtofoundLearnDialect.sguponseeinganelderlyCantonese-speakerinanursinghomestruggletocommunicatethatshewascold.Healthworkershavesigneduptotheircourses,whileotherswanttosaytherightthingsatfamilygatheringsoverthelunarnewyear.
