StephenHawkingisaninternationallyrenownedmathematician,theoreticalphysicist.In1942hewasborninEngland.Whenhewasincollege,begansufferingfrom“spinalmuscularatrophylateralsclerosis”.Later,hewasalmostentirelyparalyzed.In1985,thelossoflanguageskills,theonlytooltoexpressideasisacomputervoicesynthesizer.Hecanonlycontroltheactivitiesofseveralfingersofaspecialmousetoselectlettersonthecomputerscreen,wordstosentences,andthenplaythesoundthroughthecomputer,usually5-6minutestocreateasentence,toaone-hourrecordingspeechsynthesistoprepare10days.In1988hewroteABriefHistoryofTime:
