Introduction

Therehasbeena72%onyearincreaseinthecollectionandrecyclingofnon-bottlerigidplasticsinEuropeanda14%riseinplasticfilmrecycling,accordingtoanewreportbytheAmericanChemistryCouncil.Thereportalsonotedrobustgrowthintherecyclingofrigidplasticsinthecommercialsector,withstrongpricinganddemandforrecycledplasticmaterialshavinghelpedspurgrowthinthiscategory.

Withtherapiddevelopmentoftheplasticsrecyclingindustry,moreandmoreenterprisesgetinvolvedintothisfield.Meanwhile,problemsrelatedtosupplychainarebecomingincreasinglyprominent.Thisstudyisbasedonanactualcompanyoperation,anddiscussingthecoreissuesofwarehouseplanningandbuildinginordertooptimizesupplychainofthiscompany.

Thisresearchaddresseshowtoplanandbuildthewarehouseforacompanyinvolvedinreverselogisticsofwastedplastics.

Thisarticlefirstlydiscussedthetheoryandtechnicalbasisofwarehousemodule.Theirdistinguishingfeaturesandcontentaredescribed,andtheconventionalmethodsandtoolsareintroduced.Thisarticlethenanalyzedtheownfeatureandspecialrequirementonwarehousingplanninginplasticsrecyclingindustry,systematicallywiththemethodsofABCandEIQanalysis,aswellasfacilitylayoutplanningaccordingtotheProjecttarget:

GuoxiangTradingCo.isregisteredinArnhem,Netherlands,engagedinthetradeofwasteplasticsrecyclingbusiness.ItwasestablishedinMay2011,withtheturnoverofmorethan10millionEUROSperyear.ItpurchaseswasteplasticsfromEurope,andthensellsthemtoAsia,mainlyinChina,Vietnam,HongKongetc.

Thecompanyfocusesonplasticsrecyclingprimarilyonpolypropylene(PP)andhighdensitypolyethylene(HDPE)aswellaslesseramountsofother/mixedresins,polyethyleneterephthalate(PET)andlowdensitypolyethylene(LDPE).

Thecompanyoffersaround1000MTplasticsatahighqualitymonthly.

WiththerapidexpansionanddevelopmentthecompanyisnowsearchingforapropersitenearseaportsinEuropeforanewwarehouse,whichprovidesstoringandorganizeslogisticsbeteewnEuropeandChina.

3.1.Problemdefinition

Thereverselogisticschannelsusedforrecyclingisdifferentfromforwardlogisticsflowsinseveralaspects.Reverselogisticsorreversedistributionisthemovementofgoodsfromaconsumertowardsaproducerinachannelofdistribution.Asurveyofcurrentliteratureandinterviewswithstategovernmentofficialsandrecyclingcompaniesprovidesthefoundationfordevelopingaframeworkofthereverselogisticschannelsusedforrecycling.

Thereversechannelbeginswiththeinitialcollectionandstorageofrecyclablematerial.Typesofchannelmembersinclude:

1.municipalities,2.jointventures,3.materialrecoveryfacilities,4.brokers,5.intermediateprocessors,and6.endusers.

Functionsofthereverselogisticschannelinclude:

1.collection,2.sorting,3.storage,4.transport,5.compaction,shredding,ordensification,6.communicationwithbuyers,7.processingorfiltration,and8.retromanufacturing.

Asacompanyofwsteplaticrecyclingbusiness,GuoxiangTradingCo.facesimcreasingwarehousingcapacitypressurealongwiththebusinessdevelopment.Anewwarehousewithrationaldesignandflexiblemanagementistobebuilt.Thisprojectstudyfocusesonthelogisticsfacilityplanning,sincethecompanyfacesobstacleinthisarea.

3.2.TheoryandTermsExplanition

3.2.1ABCanalysis

ABCanalysisisatransformationmethodfromtheParetocurveanalysis.In1897,whentheItalianeconomistParetoengagedinthestudyofthedistributionofincomeandwealthinMilan,Italy.Hefoundthat80%ofthewealthisownedby20%ofthepeopleandtheremaining80%ofthemajorityofthepeopleaccountforonly20%ofminoritywealth.Paretocallitrelationsof"thekeyoftheminoritiesandthemajorityofsecondary",usedtoindicatethattheunequaldistributionofwealthandknownasParetochartsdistributioncurve.Thisbasicmethodisusedintheenterprisesmanagement,knownas"ABCanalysis."Thekeypointsaretheclassificationofcomplexeconomicphenomena,andfindingthesmallnumberofthemostcritical,thenfocusingonthesmallnumberofkey,andthenhavingamultipliereffect.WhenABCanalysisisappliedtowarehousemanagement,itwasknownastheABCanalysismethod.

TraditionalABCanalysisisverysimpleandwidelyused,buttheclassificationcriteriaistoosimpleinpracticalapplications,inventoryitemswereclassifiedbytheshareoffundsorproductsales,itdoesnottakemanyfactorsintoaccount,suchastheeaseofpurchasingofproducts,ortheprocurementleadtime.

WhenABCanalysisisappliedtoaninventorysituation,itdeterminestheimportanceofitemsandthelevelofcontrolsplacedontheitem.Bydividingacompany’sinventoryintodifferentclassifications–A,B,C;managerscanfocusontheitemsthataccountforthemajorityoftheinventory.TheadaptationofPareto’sLawofthevitalfewandtrivialmanyfollowsapattern:

Inordertoadaptvarieddemandcharacteristics,ZhangGuiMinintroducedEIQanalysis.EIQanalysisisananalyticalmethod,createdbyMr.DavidSuzuki,theauthoritylogisticsexpertsinJapan,throughmorethan40yearsexperienceofactualcombat.

EIQanalysiswhichstartsfromtheenterpriseordercarriedoutanordersanalysisofdifferentlevelstogetreceiving,storing,shippingcharacteristicsofthegoods,accordingtocustomerdemandcharacteristicsandcombinedwiththeentirePCBandABCcross-categoryanalysis.EIQanalysiscanprovideascientificbasisforwarehousemanagement.

ThebasicstepsofEIQanalysis:
