摘要

《绝望的主妇》是如今最受中国女性喜爱的美剧之一。

前人已经从女权主义,美国女性的婚姻,中美文化对比等角度对美剧《绝望的主妇》进行了分析研究。

但鲜有从美国家庭教育方式的角度对《绝望的主妇》进行分析。

家庭教育,是教育的重要组成部分之一,也是学校教育和社会教育的基础。

故本文主要从流行的美国电视连续剧《绝望的主妇》来分析美国家庭教育方式的主要特点。

最后得出以下四个主要特点:

建立民主平等的亲子关系;培养子女的独立个性和适应能力;培养子女的自信心和教育子女树立明确的经济观念和经济独立意识。

并据此来分析美国家庭教育方式对我国家庭教育的一些启示,主要包括:

将孩子看成平等、独立自主的个体;给孩子锻炼的机会;经常鼓励孩子。

DesperateHousewives isoneofthemostpopular Americantelevisiondrama.Themainsettingoftheshowwas WisteriaLane,astreetinthefictionalAmericantownof“Fairview”inthefictional“EagleState”.Theshowfollowedthelivesofagroupofwomenasseenthroughtheeyesofadeadneighborwhocommittedsuicideintheveryfirstepisode.Susan,asinglemother,tookafancytohernewneighbor-theplumber,Mike.Lynettereturnedfromhersuccessfulcareertobeafull-timehousewife,takingcareofherfourchildren.Breepursuedperfectionineverything,butherchildrendislikedherandherhusbandbetrayedher.Gabriell,whomarriedarichman,hadanaffairwithyounggardenerasshewasalonementally.Nowwhiletryingtodealwiththeirownallkindsofhecticproblemsandromanticlives,eachyearbringsonanewmysteryandmoredarkandtwistedeventstocome.Lifebehindcloseddoorsisabouttoberevealedassuburbanlifetakesafunnyanddarkturn.ThehumorouswordsandexaggerateperformanceoftheactorsrevealedmodernAmericanfamilylifevividly.ThistelevisiondramaisjustlikeamirrorwhichreflectsthelifeconditionofAmericanpeople.Observingcarefully,therearemanyfamilyeducationpatternsrevolvedintheplot.Sothis thesis paper analyzes themaintraitsofAmericanfamilyeducationfromthepopularAmericantelevisiondramaDesperateHousewives.

ZhangNahasanalyzedDesperateHousewivesfromtheperspectiveoffeminism.

HerarticlepointedthatthisTVseriestotallyfocusonthelifeofwomenlife,whichperfectlyhighlightedthethemeofpurefeminization.Herpointswerealittleextreme,thisTVdoesnottotallydescribewomenlife,educationandlifeofmanalsoinvolved.LiangTingtinghasgivenanalysisofDesperateHousewivesfromtheperspectiveofAmericanwomenmarriage.HerstudyindicatedthatthefourhousewivesenteredaFortressBesiegedofmarriagepatternandtheyboundedtheirfatewithmarriageinnameoflovetightly.ThedescriptionofAFortressBesiegedofmarriageisveryvividandrealistictomarriagelife.FromtheperspectiveofculturalcontrastbetweenChinaandAmerica,FuLeiinhispapersstudiedDesperateHousewivesandpointedouttheculturaldifferencesbetweenChinaandAmericaintheaspectoffamily,socialinteractionandsociety.ButfewanalyzeDesperateHousewivesfromtheaspectofAmericanfamilyeducation.

Most people including some parents may say that family education simply means raising and educating. However, it is never the case. Family education is more than raising and educating. A General Introduction of Chen Heqin’s Thoughts onPreschool Education defines family education as “Family education is a society use to educate new generation with aims and systems”.Thereforeparentsneedtoknowhowtocarryoutfamilyeducationwithrightaimsandsystem.

’’.Growinginthiskindofdemocraticatmosphere,childrencanfeelotherpeople’srespect.Itwillnaturallymakethembeawareofrespectingothers.InAmerica,whenfacedwithproblems,parentswillrespectchildren’sopinions.Evensometimesparentswillaskforchildren’ssuggestionforwardly.Childrenarewelcomedandencouragedtojointhediscussionoffamilyaffairsdecision.InDesperateHousewives,Lynettesaystoherchild:

2.2FosteringFilialPersonalityofIndependenceandAbilitytoAdapt

Americanfamilyeducationaimstocultivatechildrentobea“socialperson”,“independentperson”.Parentshopetheirchildrenareequippedwiththeabilitytoadapttoallkindsofsocialenvironmentandliveindependently.Theybelievethattutoringstudyisthebusinessofschoolandteacher,theaimofeducationisnottoprepareformakingalivingbutprepareforliving.Theypaymoreattentiontothevaluebuiltformoodnotrelatedtocareerorutility.ItiscommonlybelievedinAmericanfamiliesthatchildrenhavetodependonthemselvestogrowup.Inordertomaketheirchildrenadapttosocietybetterandwininthefiercecompetition,mostAmericanfamiliesdonotspoilchildren.Ontheonehand,theydemandtheirchildrentobeindependentandencouragethemtotakesomeworkthattheyareabletofinish.Parentshelpchildrenwiththeworkbeyondtheirability.Americanparentsalwaysencouragechildrentoexpresstheirthoughtsandmaketheirowndecisions.Childrenaresupposedtorealizethatonlythem,themselvesknowclearlywhattheyreallyneedandwhatshouldtheydoratherthanactingbyparents’willingordecision.Onlythinkingindependentlycantheybeindependently.Whenchildfalldown,parentsneverinterrupt,butencouraginghimtogetupbyhimself.Parentsoftenaskchildrenfromanearlyagetodosomesimplehousework,suchascleaningdishes,sweepingthefloor,washingclothesandsoon.Parentsdotheseaimstocultivatechildrentheself-careability.Sothatchildrencanbeabletotakecareofthemselvesindependentlyandadapttothesocietybetter.InDesperateHousewives,Tomaskedhistwinsbrothersonstocutthegrassinthegardenwhentheyareaboutsixorsevenyearsold.Maybetheycannotdoitwell,butatleasttheyexperienceitandrealizeindepend
