OnJuly8,2017,eightmembersofafamilyintotal,wereenjoyinganeveningtogetheratthe beach inPanhandle,Florida.Asthesunsankloweronthehorizon,thetwoboysNoah,11,andStephen,8—swamintothewaveswithoutthegrown-upsnoticing.Soontheyrealizedthattheoceanhadpulledthemintothesea.Aftertryingandfailingtoswimback,theystartedwavingandscreamingforhelp.Butthelifeguardshadbeenoffdutyfortheevening.

Theboyshadbeen struggling forseveralminuteswhenJackyandTabatha,acouplefromGeorgia,heardthem.Theydivedintothewaterandsoonreached thetwobrothers.Butafterafewminutes,theywerealltrappedina ripcurrent(离岸流)—apowerfulonethatcouldsweepeventhestrongestswimmerouttosea!

Bythen,someteenagershadheardthecry.Oneoftheteensrushedintothewater,grabbedJacky,andpulledhimbacktoshore.Meanwhile,Tabathacouldfeelherselfbeingpulledfartherout.Shewasalready exhausted andbeginningtofeeldesperateasshewastryingto save bothboysalone.    

Onshore,Jackywasterrified.Amanstopped.“What’swrong?

”asked Shaun,whowasheadingbacktohiscar.“Mywifeisdrowning!
