TheSuezCanal

TheChannelTunnel

Thegreatcanalconnectsoceans.Thenextgreatwonderconnectsland.ItiscalledtheChannelTunnel,or“Chunnel”,connectingBritainwithFrance.Thetunnelis50kilometerslong,builtabout45metersbelowtheearthundertheEnglish.Channel（海峡）.

Theworkbeganin1987andittooksevenyearstofinish.Thecostwasmorethan13,000milliondollars.TheChunnelopenedIn1994.

Today,theChunnelisverybusy.High-speedtrainscarrycars,trucksandpassengersfromBritaintoFranceandbackagain.Thetrainsarefamousfortheirsmooth,quietride.Themoneypaidforthetripisslowlypayingforthehugecost.

TheThreeGorgesDarn

Yearsofresearchallcamedowntoonetypeofherbnamedqinghao.Theanimaltestsshoweditwascompletelyeffectiveinmiceandmonkeys,SoTuvolunteeredtobethefirsthumansubject.“Asheadofthisresearchgroup,Ihadtheresponsibility’shesaid.Itwassafewith,her;soshecontinuedtotryitoutwithmorehumanpatients.
