Oneday,AlitookZahra’sshoestoashoerepairmantobefixed,buthelostthemonthewayhome.Itwasn’tuntilhegothomethatherealizedhehadlosttheshoes.Hewasafraidthathisparentswouldbeangryanddisappointed,sohebeggedhissistertokeepitsecret.ZahraagreedandthetwodecidedtoshareAli’srunning shoes.Zahra’sschoolhourswereinthemorning,soshewouldwearthemfirst.Afterschool,shewouldrushbackandgivethemtoAli.Hecouldthenruntohisschool,whichbeganintheafternoon.Althoughheranasfastashecould,Alioftenarrivedlateandwaswarnedbytheschool.

Aliheardaboutalongdistance race thatwasheldfortheboysinthecity.Whenhelearnedthatthethird prize wasanewpairofshoes,hedecidedtotakepart.Heranhome excitedly andpromisedhissisterthathewouldwinherthenewshoes.

Thedayofracearrived.Alihadastrongstart,buthalfwaythroughtheracehebegantogettiredandhislegsbegantoache.GettingmoreandmoreexhaustedhethoughtonlyofZahraandhis promise toher.Dreamingofthenewshoeshewouldwinforhissistergavehimstrength,andhestayedrightbehindthetwofastest runners,determinedtofinish third.Suddenly,asthefinishlinedrewnear,anotherrunnercollided (碰撞)withAlifrombehindandhecrashedtotheground.

Brianrealizedwhathehadtodo.Hewenttothestoreandboughtabigstack(叠)ofpaper.Whenhegothome,hetookthepaperintohisbackyard.Hetookapieceofpaperandfoldedanairplane.Itdidn’tgoveryfar,soBriantookanotherpieceandfoldedanotherairplaneandthrewit.Thisairplanewentalittlefarther.Briankeptfoldingdifferentkindsofairplanesandthrowingthem.Somewentveryfarandsomedidnot.Finally,whenBrianhadusedallthepaper,hewalkeduptotheairplanethathadflownthefarthestandpickeditup.
