foundthattheir7,OOO-year-oldsubjecthadversionsoftwoskinpigment（色素）genesthatare

eitherveryrareornonexistentamongEuropeanstoday.Thentheylookedatotherplacesin

thegenomethatinfluencepigmentation（色素沉着）andfoundamixofancientandmodern

genevariants（变种）.Takentogether,LaBranaI'sDNA“islikelytohaveresultedindark

skinpigmentationanddarkorbrownhair,"theywrote.

However,hisDNAindicatesthathiseyesweremostlikelyblue,thescientistsfound.

Thissuggeststhatgenevariantsforlight-coloredeyesandskindidnotspreadtogether,they

wrote,addingthatLaBranaI'scombination“ofdarkskinandnon-browneyesisuniqueand
