COUNTRYDESCRIPTION:

MexicoisaSpanish-speakingcountryaboutthreetimesthesizeofTexas,consistingof31statesandonefederaldistrict.ThecapitalisMexicoCity.Mexicohasarapidlydevelopingeconomy,rankedbytheInternationalMonetaryFundasthefourteenthlargestintheworld.Theclimaterangesfromtropicaltoarid,andtheterrainconsistsofcoastallowlands,centralhighplateaus,desertsandmountainsofupto18,000feet.

ManycitiesthroughoutMexicoarepopulartouristdestinationsforU.S.citizens.Travelersshouldnotethatlocation-specificinformationcontainedbelowisnotconfinedsolelytothosecities,butcanreflectconditionsthroughoutMexico.AlthoughthemajorityofvisitorstoMexicothoroughlyenjoytheirstay,asmallnumberexperiencedifficultiesandseriousinconveniences. 

 

MexicoCityisthecapitalandtheculturalheartofMexico.Itisalsooneoftheworld'sbiggestcities,andit'sgreatermetropolitanregionhasanestimated30millionresidents.Despitethisincrediblesizeitstillwelcomeslargenumbersoftouristswhocomeseeitsmanycolorfulanduniqueattractions,warmmexicanhospitalityandculturaltraditions.

MexicoCityhasamildclimatealmostyearroundwithanaveragetemperatureof15to20C.ThenightsinMexicoCityareusuallycool.Duringtherainyseason,whichstartsinJunethroughOctober,youhaveremembertopackaraincoatorjacket.Forthedryseasonorwinter,thetemperaturedropsintheeveningandacoatorsweaterisrequired.

whenusingtaxisinMexicoCitymakesureyouprepayfortheirserviceatterminalticketcounter,andit'sbesttohaveyourtaxicalledforbyeitheryourhotelorrestaurant.Asubwaysystem(Metro)offerstouristsacheapwaytotravelinthecity,withninelines,scheduletimesandmapsarefoundateverystation.Busesarealsoabundant,andthereisanewtrolleystylebussystem.However,first-timetouristsareencouragedtoavoidrentingacarwhileinMexicoCity-thetrafficcanbequitechallengingandsometimeshazardous.

MexicoCityhasmanyattractionstoexplorewithitslongandfascinatingpast,anintriguingpresentandanexcitingfuture.Thecityisdividedinto16delegacionesie.boroughs,whichareinturnsubdividedintocolonias(neighborhoods).OldtownslikeCoyoacán,SanAngelandTlalpangotmergedintotheurbansprawl,whicharestillpreservingtheiroriginality.

AlamedaCentral:

Thisistheoldestandlargestattractionofthecity.NowaPark,originallyitwasusedasanAztecmarketplaceandexecutionsiteduringtheSpanishInquisition.IthasaPalaciodeBellasArtesi.e.PalaceofFineArtsontheeasternside.Thispalacehousesaconcerthall,museumandatheatre.ItalsohasthemuralpaintedbyDiegoRiverathatislocatedincloseproximity.
