2.2.1Psychologicalproblemofelder
Accordingtothedemandtheory,thefamousAmericansocialpsychologistMaslowdividedthelifedemandfromlowtohighintofivelevels:
physiologicalneeds,securityneeds,socialneeds,esteemneedsandself-actualization.Physiologicalneedsarethemostbasicrequirementandthebasicguaranteeofsurvivalofpeopletomaintaintheirsurvival.Sincethenewperiod,withthedevelopmentofeconomy,theelderlylivingcangetprotection.Butseveralotherneedsaredifferentdegreesofdeficiency.Theoldpeoplefeelinglonely,spiritualemptiness,lonelinessoflifeboring,survivalconditionisworrying.Toelderlypeople,work,lifestyleandbodywillchange.

Thepsychologicalproblemoftenoccurredintheperiodwhenapersonretiredformhisorherposition.someofthemcanhardlyadaptintoanewtypeoflife.whichneedn’tgotowork,andatthesametime,losetheconnectionofthecolleagues.JustasReichard’sresearch,twotypespersoncanhardlyadapttotheirnewroles.oneistheangry-man,whocannotacceptthefactthatheorsheisold,andcannotadapttothelifeafterretired.Whentheyhaven’tattachtheirlifepurpose,theyattributedittoothers,andbecomeangryanddespaired.Astoretirement,theangry-manholdthetotallynegativeattitudes.Besides,deathcancausetheirextremefear.Havingnowheretoexpresstheirpassion,restless,pessimism,blueemotionaretypicalcharactersofthistypeofperson.theotheroneisself-hater,whoiscalledmaladjustivegroup.theyregardtheirlifeasfailjourney,andallofcausesattributedtothemselves,whichisdifferfromtheangry-man.theyareindrawn,shortofambitionandlonely,theyregarddeathasakindofreleasetohurtfulreality,sothatthistypeofpersonhavethehighestpotentialofsuicide.
Becauseofthedifferentcultureandbackground,thePsychologicalproblemofelderisdifferentinChinaandAmerica.TheelderinChinafocusontheirchildrenandshortoftheirownhobbiesandinterests,buttheirchildrenseldomhavetimeorunwilltokeepthemcompany.emptinessandlonelinessarefilledwiththeirlife,eventherearesomeoneturntoself-closing.thissituationoccurredespeciallytheirhusbandsorwivesdied.Forthereasonthatintradition,theeldershouldnotgetmarriedagainwhenpartnerdied.InAmerica,mosteldershavetheirownlife,suchsituationislessserious,butitdoesnotmeanthattheyhavenopsychologicalproblem,manyAmericanelderskeepworkingwhentheyreachtheretiredage,butformanyreasons,theyalwaysgotothedownhillpath,whichbringthesenseoffailtothem.However,ifquitingjob,therearesomeonecannotacceptit,throughtheyarereallyoldandcan’tqualifiedwiththework.theyfeelbeunneeded,andwaittodeath.
