WhenDavidCarterstartedtostudyartatTheUniversityofTexas(UT)atAustinin1971,hehadbigdreamsofbecominganartistorawriter.Buthisstudycametoastopat23afterhehurthishandinanunpleasantevent.Hedevelopedschizophrenia(精神分裂症)laterandspentmanyyearswithoutahome.
CarterlikedtospendtimearoundUT,becausehedreamtofbeingabletocontinuehisstudyintheuniversityandbecomingawriter.AfterrunningintoCartermanytimes,UTstudentRyanChandlerdecidedtointerviewhimforaprojectfortheDailyTexan,thestudentnewspaperofUT.
