英国国家博物馆拥有藏品800多万件。

记录了人类从古至今的文化发展里程。

但其中大多数藏品都是从中国等国家掠夺而来。

其中，尤以1907年匈牙利人斯坦因和法国人伯希在敦煌藏经洞劫掠的文物最多。

博物馆专门用于展览亚洲艺术的是33陈列室，全面展示了中国，印度次大陆和东南亚的文明。

总文物达到十多万件。

其中，中国陈列室（中国馆）就占了好几个大厅，中国文物被大英博物馆视作最重要的收藏之一，总数多达23000余件，珍品如山。

AnoutstandingcollectionofChineseantiquities,paintings,andporcelain（瓷器）,lacquer（漆器）,bronze（青铜器）,jade（玉器）,andotherappliedarts.,Room33Chinasectionofthegallery,Room95TheSirPercivalDavidcollectionofChineseceramics,女史箴图1900年，八国联军攻入北京，被英国军队劫去，是大英博物馆的镇馆之宝。

ThefamousAdmonitionsScrollbyChineseartistGuKaizhi,（344406AD）,in1900,theEight-NationAllianceforcesinvadedBeijing,andBritisharmyrobbedit,anditisoneofthemostfamoustreasureinBritishMuseum.,HuixianBronzeHu,anidenticalpairofbronzevesselsfromtheEasternZhouPeriod,China,（5thcenturyBC）,ThetwovesselswereapparentlyfoundinHuixianinHenanprovince,althoughtheexactcircumstancesoftheirdiscoveryremainsunclear.,这对青铜壶发现与河南省辉县，虽然他们发现的确切情况尚不清楚。

在壶盖的下边缘，即花瓣壶顶的下方都有同样的铭文。

铭文记载着公元前482年晋国和吴国会晤时，晋国大臣赵孟铸造了此壶。

ThecolossalAmitbhaBuddhafromHancui,TheinscriptiononthesculpturesbaserecordsthatitwasdedicatedattheChongguangtempleinHancuivillageinHebeiinthefifthyearofKaihungoftheSuidynasty.,佛像底座的碑文记载着，这尊大佛于开皇5年（公元585年）被供奉在河北省韩翠村的崇光寺。

AsetofceramicTangdynastytombfiguresofLiuTingxun,（c.728AD）,TheTangdynastytombfiguresofLiuTingxunarethirteenearthenwaretombfiguresfoundinatombbelievedtobethatofLiuTingxun,aChinesegeneralwhodiedin728AD.,唐代刘庭训墓的唐三彩，属于是最高的一种唐三彩了，制作于公元728年，出土于河南。

TheluohanfromYixianmadeofglazedstoneware,China,907-1125AD义县的釉石罗汉,AnassistanttotheJudgeofHell,figurefromajudgementgroup,Mingdynasty,China,16thcenturyAD（阎王明朝）,在中国厅中央墙上有几十平方米的敦煌壁画，其割痕虽犹可见，却难掩其久远的鲜丽及三位“浓丽丰肥”菩萨的雍容华贵。

英国国家博物馆收藏的国宝级敦煌画卷及经卷多以万计，除了这幅壁画，其他藏品在中国厅内却难觅踪迹。
